bad news

this explains alot as far as our offense goes. They have zero commitment to the school or their teammates if this stuff is true. It explains why our offense looked like crap last 6 years in ALL the big games. The games where the guys have to come together and toughen up. He ran the offense too much like he was still working with grown professionals.

I notice you at least put in the "if this stuff is true." The problem is that you're taking a shot at the kids either way without any proof of anything. And you're taking a particularly nasty shot. Oh, and this isn't about whether the kids can take the criticism. I'm sure they can take it just fine. It's just bad form to make accusations and fling insults on "ifs".

I just recently left my employer even though I really loved most of my coworkers. I worked my butt off for those guys and felt strong camaraderie with them. Unfortunately the management was very unpleasant to work for. They didn't do anything to foster a team mentality and in fact did the opposite. That's fine for some people who don't mind that atmosphere or like it. But I prefer to work in a team environment and so, after much hand wringing and internal debate, I decided to leave. I didn't leave projects hanging in the middle. I made sure my replacement was enabled. I left all my materials intact for them to use on the computer hard drive and even put in all the customer materials I had collected into places in their intranet for easy reuse. Not only that but I took calls from my replacement for a couple of weeks after I left to help him get through some things. I had plenty of commitment to my teammates but I hated being at work every day because the management.

So when I think of kids in our program who might want to transfer or are at least thinking about it my first inclination is to look at it from their viewpoint to see if I can understand it and also give them credit for being young adults and possibly having good reasons for feeling uncomfortable. By giving them that respect I get respect back and have a better chance of understanding and helping get them through the problems and making them feel critical to the success of the team, which they probably don't feel like they are anymore. They probably feel that with the new philosophy they won't be needed as much anymore and most kids want to contribute.

Of course there might be some who just don't feel like playing in a bit more disciplined system and those kids it is best just to let them go.

A couple of things.....

#1-If they want to transfer......let em.
#2-I am sure Albert appreciates you tellin all of this on the internet.
#3-my biggest thing........I know Albert has already discussed transferring (with other schools)more than a month ago-being kicked out of practice a couple of times. So he needs to be careful.

Is there any reason why this is being eaten up and not taken with a barrel full of salt?

I can't possibly see Thomas and Donley transferring simply due to the coaching change. Just doesn't register with me.

I could definitely see receivers thinking about transferring. Based upon Navy's offense, they will have to share about 8 catches a game and 4 will go to backs on screens. If they didn't have hands of steel, then we would still be running the pro-style offense that they came to Tech to play.

This should be expected when you deviate so far from the previous game. It's up to PJ to convince them that he will pass more and they fit into the new offense.

As for committment, from their viewpoint, they committed to CCG and a particular style of play that fit their talents. I also suspect that many of them have dreams of the NFL although few have a real shot. They expressed an interest in academics, but the Management program at GT, while good, isn't as highly rated as engineering.

Also, whoever commented on credits not transferring is wrong. As an accredited college, nearly every credit will transfer (especially in the first two years) and they'll have a year to sit out and get back on track. I don't hold it against anyone that determines that the coaching change doesn't mesh with them accomplishing their goals in life.

yea he said baybay n dj already filed their release forms. he said all the freshman talk about is leavin tech. he said brad jefferson might go willie white too. he told me tech is goin downhill and goin downhill fast.
 Okay, I'm officially done with this thread. You guys enjoy your misery.

I'm will to bet gatechkid21 doesn't know crap about crap.

- Didn't know that players had to sit out a year

- Filed forms already? We just hired PJ on Friday. Yeah right

I'm certain that some players will transfer / decommit due to the coaching change. There always are. But I'm sorry I just don't buy that our players are stupid enough to file release forms before even having the opportunity to meet with their new coach.

Man, at least give PJ a chance to speak with them. Filing the release forms already is way too premature.

He also sounds like he's about 13 years old. I too am done with this thread.

He is 13 or so-that is him in the picture. He attends high school in Huntsville, AL. I would not worry about him.

This thread reminds me of a bash.org quote:

<h|tler> HOW THE **** CAN YOU TELL THAT I'M 13 BY LOOKING AT WHAT I'M WRITEING?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Guys, Navy had nobody who could throw it a lick. When they did throw the ball, the WR were usually so wide open, the could adjust to make catches on errant balls.

If GT has a QB who can run this offense and throw the ball, I expect PJ to put it up at least 20 times a game if not more. If he doesn't have a guy who can do that, you'll see more running.

After 1973 we fired Bill Fulcher and hired Pepper Rodgers. We abandoned a Pro-I passing game for the wishbone. Jimmy Robinson did not transfer. Steve Raible stayed with us. Drew Hill signed with us after Pepper's first year. All three had very good NFL careers. Somebody share a history lesson with Donley, Thomas, and others.

As for QB's, guys like Rudy Allen and Mike Johnson, good passers, were surely disappointed but stayed with the program. Both had their opportunities to contribute, Johnson as a punter. But, the starter and excellent option QB became Danny Myers. Option offenses require QB's that are smart, can read DT's and DE's and make quick decisions, and who handle tha ball well. I am not sure Nesbitt will be the good fit everyone thinks. Someone like Booker or even Manley might get a chance to surprise us in the spring.

Using the I you would have predicted Pat Moriarity to be our RB in 1974. But, the option offense made a star out of David Sims. He and Adrian Rucker and Tony Head made a great backfield.

The point is, if PJ stays with his offense next year, there will be very open competition in the spring and there will be some real surprises of players who will flourish in the system.

Finally, that first year Pepper socked it to Dooley and the Dawgs 34-13 in Athens. They were unable to stop the option on that cold, rainy day. PJ is likely to do the same to Coach Richt and the Spooner next year.
