Bama/GT Series Canceled?

Keep the spin machine going guys.

There's no shame in ducking Bama.

Acceptable reasons for backing out on 'Bama:
1. Saving money in order to fire Hewitt.
2. Losing a lot of money on the games.
3. Conferences turmoil.

Unacceptable reasons:
1. We think our schedule is too hard and/or they are too difficult an opponent.

It could be that Bama doesn't want to play us now that we're on the rise, so they made some unreasonable demands, and are spinning it as if we want to back out. Bama is a bunch of dirty cheats and liars--do not believe anything they say.

#1 I don't see CPJ or DRAD as the type that would want to duck anybody.
#2 I don't see how playing a team that is really close and a formal rival, who also would guarantee a sellout at our place could lose money for us.

If this turns out to be true there are going to be a heck of alot of unhappy GT fans. Could be the first mistake associated with DRad since he came here.

The question is do we make more from 1 home game vs Bama or 2 home games vs 1-AA/non-BCS 1-A teams.

What has Nick Saban ever done to get Stingtalk to trust the words out of his mouth?

He's a liar first, a liar second, and a football coach third or fourth.

Another possibility, GT/Bama game isn't going to happen for whatever reason, Saban tells the Alabama fans that we're backing out because that's what a coach says to his fanbase.

I wouldn't put it past Saban to duck Tech on purpose, completely of his own design, and then tell his fanbase that we're ducking the game simply because he's a lying cheat. In fact, I would find that scenario much more likely than GT ducking the BAMA game so we could get an easier opponent and sell fewer tickets. The whole scenario is silly.

Just curious - is Bama scheduled to play in Atl the same season as UGA and Clemson?

From a financial perspective, I doubt DRad would be able to replace Bama with someone that would provide a larger payout to GT. And that is his first priority.

All these years, and this is the first I have known that we are in Bama's fight song lyrics. That is odd when we haven't played them in so long.

At least for your trip you have all interstate. Me I have towns like Section, Rainsville, Ft Payne etc. Me I have lots and lots of 2 lane so it makes a 3 1/2 hour trip at times into 4 1/2 hour trip and once in a while even longer.

Good to see there are other long distance season ticket holders. I live 450 miles from BDS and have been fortunate enough to make most of the home games the last several years. I made 11 games last year, including some away games, ACC Champ. and Orange Bowl.

Me too--about 400 miles away for me.

Their entire fight song could use some updating. Their goal is the Rose Bowl.

"Yea, Alabama!"
Yea, Alabama! Drown 'em Tide!
Every 'Bama man's behind you;
Hit your stride!
Go teach the Bulldogs to behave,
Send the Yellow Jackets to a watery grave!
And if a man starts to weaken,
That's a shame!
For 'Bama's pluck and grit
Have writ her name in crimson flame!
Fight on, fight on, fight on, men!
Remember the Rose Bowl we'll win then!
Go, roll to victory,
Hit your stride,
You're Dixie's football pride, Crimson Tide!

I'd rather play Auburn than 'Bama---I love that rivalery---and ---yes, without knowing I'd bet Saban is dodging the TO.

even though I would really like to see how we'd fare against them, I can't say I'd be too excited about a home game against them... I fear it'd be like the auburn game from '03, (which apparently is the only time BDS has ever been photographed...) except with crimson

not to take this whole thread to a different topic, but if we expanded the stadium (once we start selling out consistently, of course), would a 3rd tier on the east stands (bottom right in photo) look cool? I was trying to imagine it during the T-Day game, and it'd be about the same height as the west stands

I would really like to hear the rationale and the untold story now.

It is popping up on different SEC boards as evidence we were running (as characterized by Saban, even if unintentionally.)
