Belichick to UNC?!

I guess we know who will be the OC/DC at UNC if Bill becomes the HC….Josh McDaniels (OC), Steve Belichick (DC).

I don't think there are too many successful NFL coaches who have even tried, are there? More examples trying to go the other way, probably.

I guess Bill rolled off a couple of coordinators to the college ranks BOB and Weis.

Can't wait to see him look bewildered on the CFB sideline as UNC gets curb stomped.

The road is littered with pro coaches who either fell flat on their face or quickly realized talking to 18 year olds and trying to convince them to come to your program vs. drafting someone you own is not how you want to spend your day. BB didn't do much once Brady left. The real win for the rest of the conference is his kid being the coach in waiting. If he didn't have the last name is that really who would choose to be your head coach? Ferentz tried that at Iowa and was forced to fire his kid.

There's also nobody left from that era. It was an aging team - especially in the secondary (three starters already 30 plus) - and most of the offensive line - Shaq, Joe Thuney, etc. - is either elsewhere or done. The entire roster needed an overhaul. As far as I can tell, there are just two guys left on the Pats roster from 2018, TB12's next to last year.
Where Belichick really failed is in drafting and in being the GM. The Pats did much better in free agency (Matthew Judon, e.g.) than in drafting. Sony Michel? Isiah Wynn? Tyquan Thornton (not to mention Chad Jackson)? Or even better, No Hands N'Keal Harry.
Ugh.

Wow…$10 million per year for a HC who is the GOAT at the NFL level without question, but has no coaching experience at any level in CFB. This will either be a massive win for UNC and the ACC, or completely hurt his legacy.

Where Belichick missed was not being able to draft Lamar Jackson. Reports were, New England thought they had him, so they didn’t trade up to get him. Well, Baltimore picked him, and the rest is history. Would have been a much easier transition when TB12 went to Tampa, and I bet he would still be the HC of the Pats today.

It's who the Falcons should have hired. IMO it's a good hire and can't believe UNC pulled this off after so many bad coaching hires recently including Hubert Davis and Mack Brown. Belechick is an unbelievable coach. His age is the big negative.
