So they won't be around for long.
So is the 5% number based on any real research, or just a % pulled out of their ass? Why not 4% or 6%? My guess is that it just "feels" right.
How is a percentage even fair? Rosters are all different sizes. How is it ok to keep going with 5 people positive out of 120 but got to shut down if you only have 100?Yeah that’s wild. You run practices every week with 5% of your roster injured. To have to shut down because 6 or 7 of your players tested positive is absurd. Wonder how long that “shut down” lasts because if it’s more than a few days you aren’t playing that week. And there’s no real point to it unless it’s the same 3 weeks that you’re making the players sit out.

Attributing a safety threshold to a percentage is also somewhat dehumanizing, like hitting your numbers end of quarter. Should say 10 players or something so they’re a known quantity. How is a percentage even fair? Rosters are all different sizes. Also over what timespan is the 5% threshold relevant? If 2% test positive week one and 3% week 2 is the team finished? So is the 5% number based on any real research, or just a % pulled out of their ass? Why not 4% or 6%? My guess is that it just "feels" right.
So they’re starting Oct 24th. And the cutoff to play the Championship Game for inclusion in the playoff appears to be Dec 19th. So that means they could play an 8 game schedule with no bye weeks and no make-up game weeks. That’s ambitious.
A 5% metric for what though? Same thing applies? Just looked at GA county size and population chart:The 5% is a WHO metric, FWIW. A lot of other teams plowed through that number and it sure didn't seem to cause any external problems.
The crazy number is the 21 day suspension for a positive test. The protocol is more like 10 days or if you have no symptoms and a negative test then it is OK to return. That is different than an exposure.
