Big 12 Doesn't Expand

There are a bunch of outside shot scenarios that don't really exist for other conferences, because the contract value for the Big 12 is vulnerable to their lack of inventory and potentially other factors, like a slightly increased risk of repeated failure to make the playoff.

Texas has the independent ace in the hole that was floated a bit during the last round of real expansion when they were getting raided, which it could play at any time. It could potentially make more TV money for itself than it currently draws from the conference as an independent while simultaneously locking up more of the in state recruiting by scuttling the P5 status of the teams around it, which would also crush one of its biggest rivals.

OU could also precipitate Texas' independence, if the vulnerabilities in the contract value materialize and it tries to get out and go to the Pac 12 or elsewhere.

At this point it's not 'ded' ded. But compared to the other four, it's ded.
Oklahoma would be a great addition to the SEC but i could see the SEC getting so large and unwieldy that the SEC East and West could separate and become two different conferences. The SEC East could keep calling themselves the SEC while the SEC West could call themselves the Midsouth Conference.

That's a much better name:bigthumbup: Being too damn large is why the old Southern Conference broke up in 1932 and led to the birth of the SEC.

Traveling isn't nearly the issue it was in the 30's. The larger conferences may cost more to travel, but it isn't going to be 20 hr bus rides anymore.

So you are saying something could happen and the Big 12 could be ded. Interesting.

Maryland fans, especially the grad I work with, were overall extremely unhappy with the move from the ACC.

Right now i could see the SEC going after ACC teams Virginia Tech and Miami. I think both teams could very well leave the ACC if asked,
I don't see Miami being able to leave right now. They hardly have been competitive in the acc for the last 10 years
