Big changes coming for the pre-game festivities

Friggin awful idea! I come to the games for the college experience, the feel of the campus. 90% of fans come through campus, ie the north side, and will miss everything now. They are not walking over to north avenue. Hate it.

I don’t get why someone doesn’t watch a year first… but if you want to make a difference, make the handful of easy decisions to get traffic off the campus at the end of a game.

It’s interesting in regards to the southeast corner is the main visitor entrance. So now we’ll be combining them into the mix as well. Strange to say the least.

I was.on campus during the Olympics and this happened for 6 weeks.

Blocking off North Avenue from the Interstate exit (no right turns) to Luckie Street can be done easily for Saturday games. With the Atlanta mayor being an alum, this would be feasible.

No Thursday night games and only UNC and the mutts would be big draw games.

They aren't gonna block North Avenue for some BS GT event that should be happening AWAY from a major Atlanta thoroughfare on the other side of the stadium.

It is a stupid idea.

As for the Edge building. Schedule to start demolition November 27, 2023. By the next home game in 2024, construction should be far enough along to not be an issue, unless we get Billy Bob and Sons construction to build it.

Agree that it's a bad idea.

Just do it for the UGAg game just to screw with all the mutt fans.

i dont think ive been on north avenue for a gameday since i was a student. 26 years +.

doesnt make much sense to me. but im no expert.

just win baby.

Surprised that none of you have mentioned what would seem to be a major problem in implementing this. How are the big-money donors going to be able to park in the Wardlaw Building deck so they can get to their luxury boxes?

Seems like a bad idea on multiple fronts. You’re essentially moving pre game off campus, further from tailgating/fans/students, closer to visiting fans, near the opposite fanbase, and squashing a few decent traditions all in one “exciting” announcement.

Seems like we throw öööötiest of festivals. No bands, food, booze, art vendors, etc. If Brookhaven can host b-list bands every year and draw tens of thousands on a random Spring Saturday and Sunday, I think Tech could too. People don’t show up because they love Brookhaven.

What’s wrong with Brookhaven? Sure you have to step over the homeless and dodge a bullet or two when you’re checking your mail, but at least you have no yard/lawn to maintain and your neighbors are never more than 2 feet away from your wildly overpriced but totally worth it home! (Source: got the F out of Brookhaven when we were walking around homeless folks washing their clothes in the little creek in front of our neighborhood park while hoping to not get shot every time we went out to dinner (someone got shot at a burger place we went to from to time down the street))

So who wrote the big check with “move pregame to North Ave, J Batt” in the memo line?
