Big changes coming for the pre-game festivities

Not sure I'm on board with this. This is going to make Calloway Plaza seem like a lot of wasted space. That and this new thing is going to have to be pretty fantastic to make fickle GT fans walk past their seats to go to it.

If having construction is a driver then think about this:

Why don't we just not replace the Edge Center? Use the money to pay players and win? Putting all that money into facilities just as the game has changed to legal outright payment of players is like the military preparing to fight the last war.

Players aren't going to give a öööö about fancy facilities. They want to get paid. Fancy new offices/indoor wiffleball bullshit won't win over a recruit when everybody else is offering cash.

After the last four years, asking donors to change where they want the money to go (facilities or winning) shouldn't be a hard sell. Except to the guy who's name was going to be on the new building, of course.

I wonder if a few years from now we add this new building to the list of Todd's screw-ups.

You really are a ööööing retard sometimes.
"Sure GOL started YJA and we've been playing the stairs at Callaway for 20 years, but I just got here and I want to move festivities to ööööty North Avenue"

ööööer is out of touch already. There's a reason GOL put YJA where it is - because that's the most logical place to put it. The North Avenue side is öööö and is the edge of campus. Guarantee you it gets moved back after this fails.

Tear down Peter's Parking deck, put in a tailgating area, and have YJA there.

The money for the Edge replacement is probably committed already, but I agree that NIL, stipends, etc. have changed the recruiting game and facilities are no longer the indirect route to give to players that they once were. They should not be top priority any more.

For someone who has to drive down North Avenue to get onto Campus on game day, that's going to suck. We usually get there around the same time YJA is happening because we're 60mi outside of ATL. If it's not broke don't fix it. I can't see making North Ave a gigantic festival area before game time. That's a major traffic thoroughfare for ATL. YJA is a perfect location as it is and will also help to be a focal point once the new Edge Center reno is done.

As others have said this was already gonna happen regardless due to construction and he’s selling it like an exciting change. Get some exposure on north avenue while construction is happening and then he’ll sell “we’re returning home” as a big event.

We constructed a sorority house directly next to YJA and didn't have to move it for that. You are saying that we can't do it because of construction FURTHER away?

Batt’s been communicating with major donors with his big decisions. He wouldn’t have committed to it if there would be a big reaction. I guess he didn’t wanna call JJ sitting in upper north. You should threaten to quit going to games because of this.

Yes. Because the only reason he would do something like this is because he had no choice. There are many obvious reasons why it would be better not to do this, and there's no way the athletic director and the people around him are blind to these.

I'm guessing that the edge construction will be significantly bigger than the sorority house.

eventually North Ave past GT will be closed or a tunnel. These are the first steps.

Answer me this:

Are we the Bobby Dodd Way trade ?

Or, are we the North Avenue trade school?

I’ll wait.

I haven’t received the amount of communication from any past AD that I’ve received from J Batt in this short span since his hire. The dude looks like he’s working hard like this is his actual job and not a side hustle like it looked for Stansbury or MBob. Give him some space to operate and don’t be so quick to put him on the gallows for not agreeing with something.

Major donors are old farts who park in Wardlaw and are married to their first cousins. Their kids are inbred bleeders so they want to be able to gently be wheeled over to the space below Tech Tower on North Ave for an intimate YJA where the players will walk off the bus, walk a loop, get back on the bus to be drive to the ööööing locker room on the EXACT opposite side of the stadium.

It is retarded. Same for the band playing before the game. They will play on North Avenue and instead of going into the stadium where they are seated, they will be on the opposite side of the stadium looking like a bunch of tards.

I know if I were UGAg's band director, I would be planning RIGHT NOW to get off the bus at 4th and Brittain, march down old YJA, march into the north end zone tunnel, and head to the opposing band seats that way. Why? Because it is where MOST fans congregate and may as well troll GT while some of our moron fans are stuck in the SW next to North Ave.

It is ööööing stupid. I swear to God it is every bit as stupid as Clemson taking a bus from one side of the stadium to the other. Somehow, this is an enhancement because some blue hairs talked to Batt (supposedly, we don't know that)

Having twice walked across North Avenue at GT Alumni House before the Ole Miss game last year, IIRC west bound traffic on North Avenue was routed by APD south on Techwood & there was almost no traffic at all west of there. Getting to the parking lots east of the 3rd Street tunnel was another story.

Just sayin'.......
