BOR approves new degree for Tech

I actually knew the first guy to go through the prior masters in music technology. Worked with him at WREK. Dude was very sharp, EE, ended up starting a business in Chicago tweaking, repairing, and modding people's synthesizers and drum machines. Now he's faculty at a similar program at UVA.

Everyone knows that the GTGs put GT on the map musically, right?

I like it. Music Technology is always something that has interested me, but I've never gotten into...

The School of Physics has a pretty reputable Acoustics program, or at least it did when i was there

guys were designing speakers, amps, etc; already interfaced with EE programs, this one will be cool to bring into the mix since it addresses the computerization of music, both in terms of instruments and recording, production, output, etc

Seems like a win. A legitimate, highly technical degree program, but also possibly a draw for athletes.

The masters curriculum, which I got to learn a little bit about, seemed way too tough for your run of the mill athlete. Lots of EE, CS, etc material.

I took some music courses as electives while I was at Tech. Perfect place to stash athletes. And the rap angle? Somebody needs to be working that into their recruiting pitch right this second. Somebody get Rico Richie on the phone.

I for one am glad that we run these things by BarrelOfRum before implementation.

just thinking...how many athletes at any other school have music in their major? Just not totally seeing it yet, unless we can parlay this into a technology for DJ mixing for rap and studios etc

now that may be the angle

They're building some state of the art rehearsal facilities in the new West Campus Dining commons.

Let's go with Dr. Dre, he already has a PhD!

This is all how to program a robot to play music.

But, but, but...he drove up in a yellow Lambo that night. Didn't you think that was awesome?

I used to sing show tunes during studio. Everyone would join and we all already knew the choreography!

Wait what does this mean for my engineering degree??? Wtf bro this is bullshit
