Bowl Projection

Could be better, but not the worst.
ACC Standings:
SMU - CFP
Clemson - CFP
Miami - Pop Tarts
Syracuse - Holiday
Louisville - Sun
Georgia Tech - BHAM who gives a crap bowl
Duke - Gator
VT - Mayo
BC- Pinstripe
NC State - Military
Pitt - Detroit who gives a crap bowl
UNC - Fenway
Cal - LA Bowl

Pop Tarts, Holiday, Sun, Mayo, Gator all got to select their team. GT was considered but not selected. Pinstripe, Military, and Fenway then got a selection and did not select Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech & Pitt where then slotted for ESPN Event Bowl. GT was chosen for BHAM (ACC has a conditional tie in from Gasp BHAM, SERVPRO for 1 ACC Team) Pitt went to the Detroit bowl since the Big 10 had to fill pac12 bowls

My issues is why? Georgia Tech tied for fourth beat 2 Top ten teams and took the #2 team to 8 OT. How the heck did we get slotted for another crappy Bowl like last year? this team played better then last year, why did we get that slot? We got the conditional slot for the second straight year????? The ACC Bowl snub that CPJ spoke about seems to be back in action.

WTF are you smoking?
What viewership? There ain't that many Tech fans. We drove ratings because 1), it was undefeated Miami, and 2) it was ööööing Georgia on a night with no other football.
What were our numbers like for our other games, including Notre Dame? Even the Hawks sell out State Farm when LeBron comes to town.
SEC doesn't want or need us. Same with Big 10.
We need to find a way to have the ACC make itself better and quit being a punching bag.
This whole we need to join the SEC or the Big 10 delusion is some sort of LSD-fed fever dream.
If - and frankly, that's a goddamn huge if, because the probability of that happening is Ariana Grande slim - yeah, sure entertain that notion.
But there ain't öööö on the table from the SECheat or the Big 10. In the meantime, make what we're in better so if that day comes, we're a more attractive option.
We have to TRY.

It never stopped, we just stopped going to bowls.

Like I said, it’s GT’s fault. This conference sucks and hates GT. If you want a better bowl, get into the CFP. If you want better bowl tie-ins, lobby and donate to leave the ACC. Otherwise this is what we deserve.

Hate the Vandy matchup because no one outside of our two fanbases will care, but also because they're just formidable enough to beat us if we don't play well but unappealing enough to make it less likely we come focused.

Maybe soon we will be in a place where the ACC feels inclinced to appease us... or just too good for bowl games altogether.

We really need to win this bowl
I hope somebody explains this to team and they buy in

This bowl will have no lasting effect on us. No one is committing or decommitting to us on the basis of how we play against Vandy in Birmingham.

Our program's near term future will be determined by how we do next season.

That said, obviously I want to win the bowl and hope we play hard.

Probably because we lost five games and NC State and FSU took us as close as it gets too. We’re nothing special. We have some pretty damn mediocre loses. The season only feels good because we should have beaten uga and did beat Miami, but from an outsider we’re pretty damn pedestrian.

I believe a GT win coupled with retaining key players will increase any pre season talk for us. Schedule is open for a run next year.

I understand the frustration over us having to play in Birmingham, Alabama against Vanderbilt. Some of y'all think this bowl is somehow "beneath" us.

Just remember where we were just THREE SEASONS ago!! Its going to take awhile to get over the stench of being in the sewer with Pennywise.

GO JACKETS!!

We beat NC State, Duke, and UNC.... We took the conditional bowl slot last year at 6-6. Why take it again? because we have 5 losses while NC state and UNC have 6 losses???? That logic doesn't make since to me. It appears there is an ACC bowl snub and it is real.

For sure. No win is a bad win and every bit helps. I want to win and hopefully the team does too.

But I think it's a big overstatement to say "we really need to win this bowl".

If we lose, I don't think the opportunity in front of us next season will be diminished at all, nor will our ability to go out there and get the job done. Similarly, if we win, it's not like it will give us some huge leg up that allows us to go out and kick ass next season. Our prospects next season and the opportunity in front of us will be pretty much the same, win or lose.

The ACC is scared to death of Tech being successful, because they know given our market we could start to dominate this conference in BB and FB. The ACC tourney used to be held in Atlanta, now, completley out of the rotation. Football, now that Key is starting to keep our in-state recruits home, they are scared. Expect to get screwed at every turn. This conference hates us

I care about any Tech Football game. I'm glad we are in a bowl. I'm glad we aren't playing UConn in Boston. This is a good opportunity to finish the season 8-5, all wins against FBS opponents. It took the clown 3 seasons to get 8 wins over FBS opponents, and most of those losses we were boat raced and pushed around. Anyone who can't see the progress, just doesn't want to. Brent Key has actually given us one of the most historic transformations in the history of college football. The future looks very bright.

The bowl in Birmingham in '85 was a great game against Michigan State. First non Peach Bowl we had been to in a while. Dewberry was suspended so we were playing a backup QB. Malcolm King had a long run to get us into position to win after their great RB fumbled. Glad I went, and plan to attend again this year.

Love playing Vandy. Went there for the game on Halloween night in '09. People were dressed for Trick or Treat, parties everywhere, and we won big. Nashville is a great city. Wish we played Vandy and Tulane every year. The trips to NO were fun and we usually won.
