Bowling!

I can’t make Gasparilla or Birmingham (before Christmas, will already be traveling). I should be able to make any of the rest of them work, so I’m hoping for anything after Christmas.

I can only make Birmingham or Charlotte. I hope the bowl selection committee takes my travel plans into account.

How excited can the Gator Bowl be about a UNC team that has lost 5 of the last 7 and got curb stomped by their in state rival the last game. I believe Tech would bring much more excitement, optimism, and fans to the Gator Bowl.
Bigger brand, HOF coach, 1st round pick QB.

Based on the “tier” info posted recently, I’d like to think that a 4th place finish in the conference, albeit with a mediocre overall record, would get us into one of the top 7 or 8 bowls. But I’ve been perpetually disappointed by bowl selection in the past, and expect to be so again this year.

So if FSU doesn’t make the playoff we’ll get bumped down. Also, I don’t think bowls would pick UNC or NC St over Clemson.
Exactly. UNC, NCST and Duke are regular ole’ athletic programs outside the ACC. They are on a common playing field with everyone else. Only in the ACC do those 3 receive special treatment.

I just emailed the following message to the President and VP of the Gator Bowl. I think Tech fans would turn out for this game.

If the Gator Bowl wants a team whose fans are full of optimism who will turn out this year y’all need to look at Georgia Tech. Winners of 4 of their last 7 and taking top ranked UGA down to the wire I haven’t seen Tech fans this optimistic in several years. Also matching them up with an old SEC rival like Tennessee or Auburn should pack the house. Thanks & Go Jackets! J.P. Abell

The Athletic Bowl Projections:

• Our College Football Playoff projection remains unchanged with No. 1 Georgia playing No. 4 Florida State in the Sugar Bowl and No. 2 Michigan facing No. 3 Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

• The Orange Bowl automatically hosts either the ACC champion or the highest-ranked available ACC team, which could be Louisville either way. The opponent is the highest-ranked non-champion from either the Big Ten or the SEC, which appears to be Ohio State. If the Big Ten appears in the Orange Bowl, it forfeits its ReliaQuest spot to the ACC/Notre Dame.

If we go to the Duke's Mayo Bowl, first thing is hell to the yes seeing as how I have a fridge full of Duke's and several backup jars in the Pantry. Second, I just noticed that the ACC hasn't won that bowl since 2018. Time to right the ship.

I don't see Duke on that list. Did they decline to go to a bowl? If they didn't, we aren't going to the Mayo Bowl.
