it seems like we're leaving out a culprit - whoever as legal counsel approved this contract
and if Clown's deal was approved without legal opinion sought or rendered, there should be immediate terminations for that.
no performance clauses, no clawbacks of any kind, it appears.
somebody else needs to get the defenestration too.

Oh. They probably had an attorney look at it and sign off. But it was probably some paper pusher who has no clue about how college football works and saw no problem with a buyout clause where the buyout drops after the end of each season. Either that or it’s worse and Tech hired some mutt attorney who had filled our contracts with poison pill provisions.
 
I was reading a FTRS article about Tyson Helton. It had his buyout numbers listed with similar cutoff dates (Jan 1). I first thought this was nuts as well, but it might be more common than initially thought.

That is also buyouts the coach has to pay, not the school. So that is actually what we would rather have as the school (coach pays more if he is hired away before the year ends).

Hold back guy wasn’t very good at it either. Good gig while it lasted I guess.
