BREAKING NOW: Georgia Tech calls special meeting of GTAA athletic board for Monday

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I heard earlier that the players were not given an official notification of the firing, and the only way they heard about it was word-of-mouth from others. That would be odd enough, but with CBSSPorts already reporting on it, along with the people who put out the link below, it really does seem to be irresponsible for Tech not to have a team meeting to tell the team. Anyway, here is another, partly similar, list of possible replacements

That’s horrible if true.

The sports program answers to the school, not the other way around. And certainly not to double digit IQ anti-education drivethrough window experts like you. You give sidewalk fans a rotten name, douchebag. Go öööö yourself.

I’m a graduate, legacy, and former athlete…. certainly not a sidewalk fan…been attending games since the late 70s. I trust your interests in GT are sincere;however, college football is rapidly changing and we need more than hubris towards UGA to be successful. If that offends you…then fine. I’m tired of losing. Maybe you like it so it gives you something to bitch about.

Somebody else just told me that on that other site it is being reported that the players are being told on Twitter. UNBELIEVABLE

Well, they got kinda scooped. As of this moment, the GTAA News page has no indication Collins is fired. There's a lot of articles, but all are sourcing back it seems to Ken Seguira, who's quoting an insider familiar with the situation. So it looks to me like it leaked and circulated before the GTAA got to meet with the team.

It's still bad, but not as bad as it seems, especially given that TStan (who would do the notifying) is likely packing his own desk.

They should have planned ahead of time.

Getting into tinfoil hat territory, but now I'm wondering if Stansbury is refusing to fire Collins and Collins won't be officially out until Stansbury is also gone following tomorrows meeting.

So if Key is now the HC, who coaches the OL. And, as I asked somewhere else, who mentors Thacker now?

I hope we don't actually get worse.
We can’t get worse. There isn’t really any difference between going 3-9 and 1-11.

That is a LOT of our problem.
That’s how most AAs run given these are colleges we’re talking about.

The smart thing to do is to appoint a good AD and let them make the decisions while the board basically signs off on things. That’s how pretty much every public company works as well.

Unsurprisingly, Tech saw success and progress when we had a good AD and only saw downturns and failures when he was followed by bad ones.

I'm sorry, but I can't watch and listen to some yahoo with all kinds of dwag crap all over the place. what are the cliff notes on what you agree with him?
Collins was terrible and GT doesn’t care about football. Saban couldn’t win at Tech without a bigger football budget. Go all in or fold the program.

Basically that there's no reason that Tech shouldn't be in the top 25 on a consistent basis with all of the HS talent in the state of Georgia and that it's up to the administration whether or not they want to be 100% behind football in order to compete on a national basis.

GT needs to decide if we’re all in on football or not. All in from the president of the university down. We should be a perennial top 25 team, but instead we’re trash b/c we lack commitment to being good. Saban couldn’t win here because we don’t give our program the resources to compete, even though we’re in the top recruiting grounds in the country.

thank you
