Cabrera going HAM

Of course Cabrera is going to say all of this in the wake of a Athletic Dept shakup. I hope he comes thru, I really do. But I sat in a room twice a year for 5 years and I heard Bud Peterson tell me the EXACT SAME things.
Cabrera has surprised on the upside. The fact that he is eating the buyout is a message in and of itself regarding the importance he places on football.

Or Ken. Or KQ. Or whatever stupid talking head from radio or TV that might be bothered to show up. Yeah - who needs the media to get the message out?

Good thing he gave them a message to get out.

If that's really what they're there to do, they can do it, which it looks like they did given that they reported it and we're talking about it.

Getting the message out is important, but equally important is controlling the message you get out. As I posted above, the message he gave and the way he gave it was appropriate for this point in time.

He did. He said, "I talk you, you listen."

Schultz just voiced what the others in the room, media members, were thinking.
They've all - well, the good ones - got questions. I'm not saying they deserve answers, any more than we do, but that's their job. Guys like Schultz and Ken do ask good questions. That's their job. That they didn't get to ask those questions at a time when there are answers to be had is a bad look.

My buddy who used to work for GTAA and now with GT police said they’re putting up IHOP signs across campus.
Did anyone explain this comment to the old fart, or is this just a cheap shot at Waffle House?

The coach and AD were fired 24 hours ago. There are not good answers to be had to the long term changes of how the AA was financed so soon.

Had he taken questions, almost every question would be answered with some form of "we are still working on that, I'll tell you when we have more information" and everyone would have been saying *that* was a bad look.

Which, honestly, it would have been, because why take questions when you haven't had time to come up with the answers?

A lot of premature ejaculation going on in this thread. Talk is nice and all but we just let go of a coach that was all talk.

I'm excited too, but take Frankie goes to Hollywood 's advice, relax, don't do it!

It's not like Angel is going to come out and say we are looking for the best coach $3 mil a year can get us.

Wait and see. Save some of that hot sauce for later. Don't use it all up now.

Guy as smart as Cabrera, and in his position as president of an institute of higher learning of Tech's prestige, ought to know there are going to be questions and he should have answers ready.

I don't think Key is the guy long term.
But ....
I am encouraged for the rest of the season, more so now than ever before. It sounds like he is going to prepare the team to win. He may lose some guys in the transition but so be it. He makes it sound that there is an actual plan to win to go with a desire to win.

Looks like we just disagree on how long it should take to formulate answers to questions that will affect our athletics programs for the next five to ten years.

Personally, I'd be a little worried if we had answers to how we are going to overhaul the athletics department less than 24 hours after we fired the two most important people in it. You can't take too long, of course, but I really think this is something that needs careful consideration, the input of multiple people, and lots of vetting to make sure we get it right.

However, if you think that most of that stuff should have given figured out within a day of firing the AD and HC, then I can see why you'd be upset that he didn't share any info on it today.
