Can the AA afford $1.8 million?

If we fire Tenuta and recoup his salary, maybe.

Not a prospect I'd like to entertain.

We are actually moving out of the red-line in debt. Money will not be an issue if that was to occur.

Where did you get that Kyle, there is no buyout in Chan's contract per newspaper reports.

How did you come up with that number?
I don't know if it is accurate, but I just multiplied his base salary by the number of years left on his contract after this year. He is the only ACC coach without a buyout clause.

Its not accurate, his salary is over a million with incentives. There is no buyout clause. The AA will be fine if Dan decides to go this route, money will not be a problem.

According to this http://sandspuronline.com/neighbors/article_ap?id=110824

his base salary is $459,461.

If their was a buyout which their isn't then many coaches include the incentives too, which brings him in over a million, he made over a million last year. It's not really worth worrying about Kyle, the money situation will be fine. Or maybe we could just get Braine to pay him off?:laugher:

Why did we not include a buyout clause?

Why would we want to buy him out anyway? The tumult that a premature and unexpected buyout would cause in the program would last well beyond the two years that CCG has remaining on his contract.

He didn't request one so we wouldn't just go make one for him, if it were me I would have wanted a buyout clause in my contract.

His contract ends in 2011. That is 4 more years.

I don't understand. If the fanbase is unhappy with him at the end of the year and he loses to UGA, why would the buyout be premature or unexpected?

Why would you want one? Buyout clauses usually mean less money for the coaches if they get fired.

this is a non issue. Unless you have a total meltdown CG will continue to be our coach.

are you going to bring in Fridge?

How bout Tommy Bowden?

Or the Navy coach that barely beat Duke?

Do you think GT is willing to spend the $$$'s to come up with a candidate that is a perceived improvement over CG?

Is there anybody in the ACC who is actually happy with there coach?

Wake, BC (for this year) and ?

Are you going to bring in Jimbo Fisher? Have you been watching that offense this year? :laugher:

IMO it would take poor recruiting AND sub .500 record for Dan to make a move.

Even if we are sub .500 the reality is that we are recruiting better player now, so in theory the team will improve.

I am a GT fan and will support whoever.

I think these fans who are dreaming of CG being forced out are delusional.

Fans just seem to want a change. They use to argue that Reggie was the problem. They have always argued CG was the problem. Before the Clemson game Tenuta was the problem.

The real problem is that every week somebody loses and sometimes it is GT.

If St. Richt loses this week they will be ripping him too. If he loses to Tenn, KY, and UF they will be ripping him BIG TIME.

I had a guy next to me in the stands ripping CG for kicking the go ahead by 10pts FG. Even after it was made he stated it was the wrong call.

Plato stated the greatest enemy to democracy is IGNORANCE. It seems GT's fanbase is proof of that.

Lets look at the Reggie/Bennett issue. Everyone ripped CG b/c Bennet should be starting blah, blah, blah.

CG stated that he felt although unhappy w/ RB that he still gave us our best opportunity to win.

Has CG been proven wrong on this issue?

CG is the coach of GT and I hope GT goes 14-0 every year just so the crow gets passed around on the boards.

CG use to get ripped on recruiting but where are those posters?

I expect CG to be our coach for the next few years unless he goes to the NFL.

So basically you're complacent with going 7-5? I guess so.

I'm OK going 7-5 with 7-5 talent (like he had his first 4 years). He had better than 7-5 talent last year and the team performed better (although it should've been an ever better season - the first where an argument can be made for underachievement). I also believe this year's team should have the talent to be better than a 7-5 team.

And by talent, I'm looking at the whole picture - recruiting rankings compared to our main rivals, team depth (esp at key positions like the lines), team experience, injuries, etc.
