Sims is the best quarterback in GT history, with Hamilton, Shawn Jones, Justin Thomas, Nesbitt, and Donnie Davis.

There is no ceiling with Sims potential. He showed in Tallahassee Sept 2020 he is a game changer and a winner - He will be invited to a Heisman ceremony before he is drafted first round in April 2025.
Just for öööös and giggles, I wanted to see how Jeff Sims stacked up with the QBs he called out! Interesting he left off the Goose...But here we Go:

Shawn Jones

8441 passing yds & 51 Tds
855 rushing yds & 19 TDs
ACC "Rookie of the Year"
Citrus Bowl MVP
1990 National Championship
Inducted into the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2003
Record vs UGA: 2-2
Bowl Record: 2-0

Donnie Davis
11–11 record on the Flats
3261 passing yds & 22 Tds
749 rushing yds & 7 TDs
Record vs UGA: 0-2

Joe Hamilton
30-17 record on the Flats
8,882 passing yds & 65 Tds
1758 rushing yds & 18 TDs
MVP of the Gator Bowl
ACC Player of the Year
Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award
Inducted into the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2009
Inducted into the College Football Sports Hall of Fame in 2014
Record vs UGA: 2-2
Bowl Record: 2-2

Josh Nesbitt
23-11 record on the Flats
3276 passing yds & 20TDs
2,806 rushing yds & 35 TDs
ACC Championship
Record vs UGA: 1-1
Bowl Record: 0-2

Justin Thomas
22-16 record on the Flats
4,754 passing yds & 40TDs
2,412 rushing yds & 22 TDs

Not sure Sims stacks up well yet, but maybe his third season he will play lights out!

Jeff Sims
5-13 record on the Flats
3349 passing yds & 25TDs
864 rushing yds & 10 TDs
Record vs UGA: 0-0

Probably better to compare Sims‘ stats to the freshman and sophomore years for the other guys, but I appreciate the data gathering.

IIRC, Jeff Sims has not played a single down of football vs. UGA.

Not sure that would be fair to Jeff Sims. Shawn Jones was winning the Natty in his sophomore season. Joe Hamilton was the MVP of the of the Modern Day Cheez It Bowl ( I think it was the carquest or hertz bowl back then) and then he went on a crazy run that put him in the College HOF. J. Nesbitt won the ACC in 2009 his Redshirt Sophomore year or second season as QB for GT and JT5 was OB MVP during his sophomore campaign after leading the Jackets to an 11 win season and finishing the season as a top 10 team. I just do not think it is a fair comparison to Jeff, I mean up to this point it has not been his fault that we have had crappy coaches. I think after this year we will know where he stands, I hope he is just not shell shocked from the first two seasons. I think it is pretty amazing he didn't leave with Gibbs.
