Can You Guys Handle the Truth?...

The coach I have heard (again, all just talk at this stage) is one we all know and we all love.
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Let's see,

Bud Carson, no he has passed away
Bobby Ross, no health issues
Bill Curry, hmmm no better gig at ESPN
Ralph Friedgen, no locked up by Maryland,
Bill Fulcher, no track record and whereabouts are unknown
Ok, it's either George O'Leary formerly of Notre Dame or Pepper Rodgers!!!

It's ContactBuzz!!!

As a player, I won the Yellow River championship on my 55lb Stockbridge Tigers. The fact that I only got in on about 5% of the total plays is irrelevant.

Also as a player/manager, I created a dynasty and won several titles on NCAA Football 1999 - playstation.

I simultaneously won multiple titles on Madden NFL 2000 - playstation.

Sounds like Tom Coughlin (sp?), although I'm unsure if he won any "championships" while in college......He won the division in the pros, if I recall (?)

Ahh, the joy of internet rumors. Since most rumors on the internet are probably in the neighborhood of 50/50 to 40/60 on accuracy, I'll give this one a solid 45/55 chance of success.

Hey, right now, 50/50 represents a better scenario than I've seen in quite a while, so this is good news IMO !

Gnome, how close are you to the program on Bobby Dodd Way? I would love to "pushpin" this until later in the summer. My curiosity is up.

I think I am pretty right in saying that under the athletic of Stansberry that the East Tennessee football program was SHUT DOWN!! Now why in the world do you people think we need experience like that? Except maybe his expertice would come in handy! By the way Tulane is seriously considering doing away with football so you folks just believing it won't happen to us!! It almost did in the early 80's! The only good choice for ad is BILL CURRY! He knows everyone in football period. He is the only one who has been through Tech and could stand up to any big alum or administrater! If he can't get it done then no one can. He is very intelligent, makes great impression, and loves Tech. I think he still donates to the at fund. Or you can get Stansberry who would be pushed, handled, and tossed around by any of the Carol Moores.

"The answer is Ralph Friedgen. However Gnome is right. It is 50-50."

The return of Ralph Friedgen would be the best thing that could happen to Tech football. Just doing a quick and dirty calculation our winning % since Dodd (1966) is 61.8% with Ralph and 46.8% without.

That said, the return of Friedgen would be the shock of the century. Has an ACC school ever stolen a fellow conference member's coach?

Listen up, Techrod: I worked with Todd(Stansbury) for many years. I can assure you that he can and WILL stand up to anyone, yet be diplomatic in the process. Todd knows how GT works inside (he was a player then AA administrator)and out (has AD experience at several institutions). He is a perfect fit for GT!! He loves MaTech yet understands what "she's" all about. Best of all, he is not in it for personal gain or recognition. He's truly a "Tech man" (with all that that implies).

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Just can't see Ralph leaving the ole alma mater as long as he's successful there.

Does Ralfie still have his house on Lake Oconee? For that matter does O'blubbery still have his house on Lake Oconee.

THe truth is that RF will not be leaving Maryland for GT, come Stansbury, hell, high water, or $2 million/yr.

Ralph would be worth $3 million+ ... Think of the extra tix he'd sell.. You could raise tix by $10/game & nobody would care...the place would be like a rock concert every game...

I be afraid the Fridge might keel over during a game. He may be a genius, but he ain't looking too good. I don't know what anybody else thinks, but I think luring Charlie Strong out of Florida would be a great move. I think I posted that here before. He is supposedly a great recruiter and at least would project a vital image to fans and recruits.

I'd write a contribution check to the AA right now for a K if they signed Ralphie, no questions asked. Make that 1.1K!

Be real! Ralph will not come to Tech. He is loyal and would not come for more money. He is not blind and can read about the tightening of academic standards at GT, plus the separation of academic and athletics in the athletic department.

I say the chances of Ralph coming back to Tech are slim and none.

It will be impossible for O'Leary to return.

I am not sure Jimmy Johnson could be effective at Tech, even if he agreed to come here. Although, Johnson has always been a good coach, he has also had the advantage of having the best material at all of his stops.

Jimmy Johnson may not be able to win at Tech with the three and four star athletes we recruit.

The type of coach needed at Tech is one who has a great brain and is very creative. He must be able to develop players that might not be blue chip. It takes a special coach at Tech. He must be chosen very carefully.

Now, if Ralph has a son with good genes, we could be in luck.
