Catchall Deion Sanders Thread

Dang, the only thing I saw of the Colorado spring game was when I tuned in as it was ending and they were asking Shedder about Montana and how good he is.

Is it a case of having a great spring game, entering the portal, and hoping USC calls?
Hard to know. Could be he doesn't like the new staff, doesn't like the situation with the QB and HC, maybe he's tired of it snowing in late April in Colorado, maybe he just thinks his opportunity to make it to the league will be better elsewhere. Modern day college athletes can do what they want, when they want, where they want and command how much they want if they're good enough. He obviously thinks he will do better somewhere else and his reasons don't really much matter. I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of that in Boulder.

What folks don’t understand that this is nothing but daddy ball. He did it with his son in rec football and high school. Then he realized his name could get him hired to keep the daddy ball going at a very low level of college football. Now, he found a 1-11 school willing to take a chance. Good for him and I respect his hustle. But once his son is gone so will he. This is all about Deion doing everything to get his son to the NFL. We’ve already heard him say it. Remember all his talk about HBCU’s and those players not getting a legit shot (even though plenty of HBCU players have made the NFL). He has already succeeded in backing the NFL into a corner regarding his son, very similar to what we see Lebron doing with his son. If their sons are good enough they’ll make it on their own. But the fact that both these guys have to pull strings is very telling.

It's 110% about Shedeur's draft stock, and once he's gone Deion will become a dead weight with a gargantuan buyout.

There was a time a good many years ago, that being the starting quarterback at a major University was almost as much political as athletic. Of course the quarterback had to be skilled, but also had to have the support of various coaches and sometimes boosters and fans.

Like acting like Shedeur is a bum and wouldn’t play otherwise. He had offers from pretty much every school in the country. I’m sure most P5 schools would gladly take him as a transfer based on what he showed at JSU.

Headline, "NEARLY TWO DOZEN COLORADO PLAYERS HAVE ENTERED THE TRANSFER PORTAL SINCE DEION SANDERS WAS HIRED"

That's a lot of players.
If Deion keeps up at this pace he will pass Jimbo on turning over 25-30% of his roster. Nice guys they are, Jimbo and Deion. These scam artists will both be run off before long.

I don't understand the draw of Deion. If I were a QB, I'd rather play for a Heisman winning, national championship winning, coach who played QB.

Well if you were a QB you wouldn't want to play for Deion regardless since he's made it clear his son will be the starter.

i dunno that portal page shows 25 transfers in and 23 transfers out.. and guess what.. they are transferring in 1.7M NIL type guys and transferring out 20K NIL type guys.. sounds like an upgrade to me

Exactly. Deion is doing exactly what he was brought in to do, and exactly what any high profile coach who can bring in top talent would do in this situation.

The only difference is he was publicly callous about it. While personally I don't that bodes well, it doesn't mean that the sheer number of players transferring out means anything bad. It would be more concerning if players weren't transferring out, frankly.

On the 247 portal tracker

in the last 9 days they have had 28 players enter the portal. 14 today.

With 3 transferring in

wow.

For sure, but I think that also adds to the “Deion has to be successful this season or else” crowd

Is that the new measure? NIL guys?
