CGC is a marketing genius

Collins doesn’t miss much but I believe he missed an opportunity this morning. Would have been awesome for the practice in the stadium to be open as the Pi Mile run ended. Even better if he would have come up to Tech Tower to hype the team up.

Don't get me wrong, I was a fan of CPJ and grateful for his time here and what he did for Ma Tech, but can you imagine if CGC had gotten here, say 3-4 years ago when Richt was in his downward slide at UGAg and Kirby Dumb was just getting his feet wet? They've had a lot of recent success and momentum in recruiting, and I can't help but think that we could've been a major thorn in their side during all that transition to Kirby.

You mean like beating them 2/3 years 3-4 years ago?

I like that he has some head coaching experience now that he didn’t necessarily have in that time frame. We are getting him at the right time. UGA has peaked with their splash hire and can’t get over the hump. Their trajectory will be down precipitously if we have some decent success early on.

I agree about the timing. Over the next two years as Collins builds his recruiting network and we win some games, UGA will have the spotlight and continue to choke under those lights. The UGA masses are already getting frustrated with Kirby because the results aren’t lining up with the recruiting rankings (which is a constant theme in Athens). UGA will run through the east this year and then lose to Bama. Fromm probably goes pro and they start over with the next savior. I think Collins will put us in a perfect position to benefit from the idiot dog fans doing what they did to Richt. Johnson was never in a position to benefit due to the offense and old school approach. I tell my son often, if 2nd and 26 never happens UGA could have become a juggernaut. Instead, 2nd and 26 led to the fake punt, the loss of their stud QB, and the shine leaving the Kirby hire.

I’m not too sure they will continue running through the sec east. Uga has benefitted greatly as of late from questionable hires at Tennessee and Florida and Spurrier retiring from USC. Mullen is a much better coach than UF has had of late and Pruitt is an improvement at UT. They may be a problem for uga. If not this year, then next.

I think UT's better days are gone and the east is a two donkey race for the foreseeable future.

But if UF starts beating UGAy then popcorn time.
Pruitt is an improvement over Dooley and Butch. Enough of an improvement to be a headache. He’s already recruiting better. UF and UT have to be better recruiting to keep uga from pulling whoever they want. We are now doing our part. That is the first step.

I agree but I think UGA will easily win the east this year with Fromm at QB. After this year it will get interesting with Florida.

UT has sunk a lot of money into the program. I have been to a bunch of games at Neyland. Their horrible hires were equal to the horrible conditions of the stadium and other football facilities about 10-15 years ago. Neyland was a crumbling ööööhole. It was dilapidated. Tennessee has righted the facilities ship for athletics across campus. I feel they will right the ship against the Gaggers sooner than later with the better facilities and hiring of Pruitt.

I don't have a lot of faith in Pruitt as a coach, but we will see. He's kind of a jerk and I've heard rumors he's a bit of a lush. I think Mullen has more upside, but both of them are behind the 8-ball since Smart had so much time under Saban he's been able to port over the playbook. Granted, none of the students can beat the mater. Pruitt is like Smart but not as good and less experienced. Mullen is more of a wild card guy IMO.

Mullen was beating Saban with almost certainly less talent, no?
