CGC post game presser

It’s weird people don’t get this.

Since I can remember watching Tech football we have had:

Pat Watson, Ralph Friedgen, BOB, Pat Nix, John Bond, Paul Johnson, and Patenaude at OC. At best two of those guys were actually in-demand and at best two were good during their tenures.

Dave Huxtable, Randy Edsall, Ted Roof, John Tenuta, Dave Womack, Al Groh, Roof again, and Thacker at DC. One of those guys was actually good.

We’re batting like 3/14 on good coordinators in ~25 years.

I don’t think it’s unfair to say we’ve only had two good DCs (Tenuta and O’Leary) and two good OCs (Fridge and Johnson) since 1990 and that the only time we were good at both we won a national title.
I continue to question the love for Tenuta. Apparently you have forgotten the games in which the D totally sucked.

Since WH obviously has a product placement deal personally with Collins, why not just ask WH to send it instead to the GTAA so you can improve your staff?

Just got banned on other site for this:

someone asked how the asterisks could be used for CGC, & I jokingly said this:

***ff with a clown emoji.

kind of like the rest of society now - can’t handle free speech, even jokes, just cancel the person.

I would say it is unfair to say the only good DCs were Tenuta & O'leary. Where else was Tenuta good? I think Huxtable, Wommack, Groh and even Roof have all had better careers than Tenuta.

No one forgets those. He wasn't perfect, nor were his defenses.

But even taking the bad games into account he had us playing far better D than we've seen on the Flats since, and there was a palpable excitement when his unit took the field.

You put his defenses together with CPJ's offenses, or even this year's offense, and we'd win a lot of games.

What does it even mean to "create margin" ???
does he have any clue what he's taliking about?

I won't deny your ultimate conclusion, but I still don't think I would want him back. I actually thought the guy CPJ hired in his final year showed a lot of promise, and I was disappointed that Collins didn't keep him.

He’s an idiot using the idiom in complete reverse. When he said it a few weeks ago, I figure he was just butchering it. After repeating, he’s just a moron.

What he means is that 2 years ago our margin for error was so narrow thin in order for us to be successful, thanks to his greatness in all phases of running a program we’ve broadened that margin and we’re now right on the cusp of winning.

Yet, to summarize what this jackass thinks is close, we turned Miami over 3 times, scored 8 points on defense, made 2 fourth down stops, they missed a FG…and he still managed to navigate into a L.

That’s not close. That’s you sucking at your job.

I don’t think that’s what he was saying. He was saying we need to win the close ones and then the next step is to increase the margin of victory.

Would give your posts 2 likes if I could.

Collins recruiting has been excellent. Needs strong assistants if he is going to be the head guy. Let’s hope that Tdope is fundraising/finding the money for 2 good coordinators. Much cheaper to pay up for those than to replace a whole staff after apathy sets in.

Baloney
our talent level is at about 32 which is fairly average for a P5 team.
It is neither excellent nor elite, just merely improved relative to the past decade.
still, it takes more than recruiting to be a successful P5 HC

This team got 3 fumbles and still didn't hit 200 yards passing. Only held Miami to 1 punt and 1 failed fourth down conversion. The score was not indicative of how outmatched the team was today. If Miami doesn't miss a field goal, turn the ball over 3 times, and give us 2 points on a failed conversion this game isn't even close.

It is excellent compared to where it has been since the 90s (save the ‘07 Giff Smith/Collins outlier). The hope is an improvement in the won/loss record would lead to even better.

I am well aware that Collins needs more to be a success at GT. That’s why I want to see some better coordinators brought in soon. Slightly above average coaching leads to 3 more wins than the team has now.

Im just not sold on the premise that we are recruiting way better then before. Other the Gibbs, where are the impact players? Both lines are subpar, the secondary is a mess, most transfers have been bust, QB play has been marginal, and I’m not seeing anything particularly good with our special teams. Do we have to wait for all these stud recruits to become upper class men before they become difference makers? I just haven’t seen a significant difference on the field from PJ recruits compared to Collins recruits.

Hard to argue with this. Where are the results?
