All you guys throwing rocks, name the injuries we’ve had this season. Tell me where we were playing players today.

A half dozen played in positions they’ve never played. That’s crazy! Off the chart.

Read Mark Bradley’s article this evening. Collins is about to sign the best recruiting class we’ve had since 2007.

It’s going to be rough next season, and probably the season after. 5 6, 7 wins. Hard to win with freshmen.

But in year 4, Collins will win 8-9, 10 games.


It’s (lack of) size guys. And Collins is bringing it!

That may be the most frightening thing of the weekend. If Bark Madley thinks we have a coach who will keep us losing and irrelevant for a generation he will defend that coach vehemently. I know we all thought Georgia should appreciate Donnan and Goff but believed Dooley, Smart and Richt should be fired.

Coaches say and do what is necessary to get hired. Once hired, in our league, they are millionaires. What happens subsequent to being hired is of no consequence to them. If they get run off, they still get paid. Look at Willie Taggart, or Fedora. Not saying he will, but Collins could go 5-19, and be a rich, former coach.

VT is a good football team, that being said losing is one thing getting destroyed is another.

CGC's pre-GT career HC record was 15-10. Both of his seasons as a HC before GT resulted in winning records.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that CGC had a really thin resume. But Bill Lewis' resume was definitely not "much better." He just had that one good season at ECU, and that got him our job.

PS. Mentioning Bill Lewis' name in the context of evaluating CGC is suddenly giving me shivers.

But Lewis had brought ECU to prominence in a time when that just wasn't done that often. The demarcation between the East Carolinas and the bigger, traditionally established programs was much greater than today. He was the flavor of the month for sure, and had very little competition for the job.

He does get a pass this year for most things. We all understand the injuries and transition and everything takes time.

None of that explains getting a delay of game on the first ööööing play after a touchback. He could have trotted out 11 middle schoolers and they should have known what play they were running and got a snap off in time.

He does not get a pass for shit like that. Combined with some of the other gameday moves makes some of us worried he is out of his league and there is no way to recruit good enough to overcome piss poor coaching.

Friend of mine is a vt grad and told me they have two walk-ons on the OL.
 
Up until yesterday I could see a difference in Arkansas suckage and Tech suckage. Yesterday looked a lot like Arkansas, hope that was a blip.

Their smallest starter on the OL was 6'5", 311 lbs. Their offensive line was 311, 316, 315, ,315, 325. Their QB's 6'4", 228 and 6'4", 245. I was hoping we could take advantage of their smallish DL at 238, 290, 288, 245. Foster had his guys ready. We weren't blocking. Half our plays lost yards. We had several passes dropped. Terrible picks, one definitely on Graham, the other was a combination of no blocking and a bad decision.

Their starting OL averages around 6’5” and b/w 315-320 lbs. All 5 were recruited and are most definitely not walk-ons. They are 2 four stars, 2 three stars and the #1 JUCO OT in the country for his class.

He must mean that play on occasion and are not starters...unlike us.

pretty sad when one has to reference bark madley in defense of a less than mediocre coaching performance

That one season was a good season, to be sure. They lost to a 6-6 Illinois team, and beat #15 Syracuse, #21 NC St and #23 Pitt (and unranked VT) to finish 11-1. But aside from that one year, Bill Lewis' resume was not notable.
