I 'd just have to say don't believe the hype in defeating non-traditionally ranked teams such as those above and then using it as a measuring stick for future successes in leading another program.
 
We've averaged 6 wins a year for last four seasons including a 3-8 year. I don't see how we were exactly setting the world on fire prior to the coaching change.
 
One of the issues to me is the timing of plays on the O. The cause is the damn come to the line and then everyone turn to look at the sideline for adjustment signals and then there's not enough time left on the play clock. This needs to stop. Just call a damn play and run it unless the QB makes an obvious check at the line. This is also the cause of a lot of our false starts. The O lineman can't stay in the 3 point stance for 25 seconds without getting ansy. Too many O substitutions is hurting too with refs stopping us to allow the D to sub. Sometimes theres only 5-10 on the play clock when the ref allows us to start.

When the play clock gets down to 3 or 2 the defense can time the snap and their blitzes and they get a headstart.

Read Mark Bradley’s article this evening. Collins is about to sign the best recruiting class we’ve had since 2007.

It’s going to be rough next season, and probably the season after. 5 6, 7 wins. Hard to win with freshmen.

But in year 4, Collins will win 8-9, 10 games.


It’s (lack of) size guys. And Collins is bringing it!

I’d feel better about things if we saw some actual evidence of good coaching. Recruiting is one thing, coaching is another.

6 wins sounds almost impossibly optimistic right now. We were decidedly mediocre before. Now we're embarrassingly terrible. Mediocre would be awesome right now.

i was never a CPJ hater .. i liked him. i just thought it had run it's course. time to move on. etc. i think next year will be easy to stomach. if not somewhat enjoyable. hell, i'm a hawks, falcons, braves, GT fan .. i understand misery. i'm not overly worried about the results this year as a predictor of future outcomes.

2015 was horrible. That was the season I gave up on Sewak, and I think we did a poor coaching job on top of the injuries.

Yet we were still competitive in 10 of 12 games. Nobody scored 45 points on us all season, and we only scored less than 20 once. We damn sure didn't get shut out on offense TWICE and lose to a ööööing FCS team.

It's not the fact that we're losing. It's the fact that there is very little hope in winning, and when we manage to even be competitive, it's a surprise.

CGC will have his opportunity to do better. CPJ bookended the 2015 season with 11 and 9 win seasons. Perhaps Collins will have similar success. I'll be cheering for it, but I'll believe it when I see it.
 
A benchmark for a leader is always did they leave things better than they got them. CPJ inherited a roster that was stacked with NFL talent in a league that didn’t have a true power. We didn’t capitalize on this opportunity and we are where we are. It will take a few more years to reshape the roster even close to where it once was. Blame Bobinski or DRad all you want but it isn’t like CPJ did everything he could to improve the coaching staff. He didn’t try to engage the media and sell the program. He didn’t recruit well and didn’t seem to prioritize it. He wasn’t great with donors. I had fun during the good CPJ years but let’s not rewrite history to make him faultless for where the program currently is. Be patient. This roster needs an infusion of talent and that isn’t going to happen in one year.

He must mean that play on occasion and are not starters...unlike us.

I’m really having a hard time figuring some people on this site out, are some of us really this uneducated in football or anything that has to do with change. It’s funny as hell that we expected a better season this year than the one we had last year. We lost our starting QB in the triple option that played more games than he probably should have, we lost our top 2 A-backs in Searcy and Lynch, our best offensive lineman is a grad-transfer(this was happening either way) Any one of you CPJ cocksuckers want to tell me 1 year under his regime where we had an above average defense that was comprised of his recruits? Do I like all of the changes being made for rebranding purposes? No not all of them, but go read the tweets of our 2020 recruits and tell me it’s not making any difference, Jump on board the juice train and support the new coaching staff and team. We already have the best recruiting class we have had in over a decade in year 1 under CGC.

13/14 in football budget in the ACC. You act like PJ was fine with that. Get a grip. PJ would have LOVED having a budget like Clemson or Bama. I promise you: he wouldn’t have turned it down.

I’m not griping about GC. I know Geoff is doing his own thing and it’s gonna take a while. I hope it works out and believe in him that it will (doing otherwise is pointless).

But I’ll never understand the hate on PJ.

Its not the losses that bother me. Its how unprepared we look. Yeah, getting manhandled is one thing but turning guys loose on the offensive line.
Being careless with the ball, poor tackling technique (how many times on punt coverage does the first and second guy whiff), catching a punt inside the 5, not knowing the clock rules.
This looks like a poorly coached team. Coupled with the fact our offensive coordinator uses a Magic 8 Ball to call the plays

Again, you act like this is an either/or situation. You don’t have to hate on PJ to support GC.

The fact that you do actually supports PJ.

Your post would have been great without mentioning PJ
 
Don't forget, he was touted by the uga staff as being an outstanding young coach and that they hated to lose him!! yea, right...

It isn’t hate. It is just an honest, unemotional look back at his tenure. Do you think he wasn’t at least partly responsible for the lack of growth in the program?
