I don't think he get's the job and he is erodinng support from within his base. Some of his strongest supporters respect him as much for his character and loyalty as much as they do his coaching ability. This is bothering that crowd more than his QB development.

I've been a loyal GT employee for 20 years, but if someone comes to me with a job that would triple my pay, I will be listening. I guess that means I have no character.

I don't believe this neccesarily shows a lack of character, it really depends on how it is handled. However, some of Chan's more loyal supporters think so, which is the point of the post. I think this is something that is bothering the 'let's support the coach' crowd.

which one of his loyal supporters has turned on him?

As long as we keep all those 4* recruits I don't care who he talks to

MM42,
I'll bet you haven't been telling anybody that you will stay for the long haul and build a program.

Haha, good question. I see the same people on the same sides of the fence using this as another excuse to argue about the same general topic.

If you can browse the Hive, I think you might be surprised at some of people who are voicing their discontent with the Miami situation.

Nothing surprises me with someone voicing discontent about ANYTHING that happens. We could win the natl title, graduate 100% of our players...and each kid could win a humanitarian award off the field. Then...someone would complain about the gold jersey not matching the gold helmet....the location of the GT logo on the field....etc. etc.

It is much easier to be a critic than it is to be a solutions person or someone that finds the positive.

Regarding the situation with CG and Miami...cant blame him even though he did say he desired to retire at GT. However....all coaches say that and this just proves he is not much different...although I do like the fact he is being forthcoming instead of flat out laying like the loser in Tuscaloosa!

Because of the time of year....I think one week of this is healthy for the GT program from a publicity standpoint...it speaks a lot to our players and future recruits about his NFL connections...but if it drags out longer than one week that is probably too long...only because it is January.

Not sure if it is in Chan's blood....but he should force the decision from WH by Thursday or bow out.

(browses the hive .. returns ..)

Aha. Yes, it appears AFR is pissed.

Ahh well.

I figure if he goes, at least I won't have to listen to people bitch anymore.

Ah, yes, that is, unless Coach Mac isn't hired...

Hehe, well Tenuta is definitely the new Coach Mac as far as that's concerned.

If Chan goes, (unlikely IMO) and Jon gets the HC spot, who would he hire for coordinators? Think he'd fire Nix and hire a new OC? Not that I'm praying for it or anything, just curious what the prevailing opinions are.

It does not matter because JT would not be the head coach...it is not in him to be a HC at GT. He is a brilliant defensive mind though.

it is not in him to be a HC at GT.

Says who?

I figure he'd lead the pack, just like Ralph would have if GOL left when he was still here. Same bunch of fans/supporters, same ties, same football mind. I bet you dollars to donuts that if Chan left, and Tenuta *didn't* get the HC spot, that he'd quit, though.

hiveredtech, couldn't agree any more re: Gailey/Miami. He needs to force an answer out of Miami or bow out. Any longer and some of our recruits may start asking questions.

Ralph and JT are two totally different people. Ralph has the charisma of Sam from Cheers compared to JT.

The only people recommending JT for HC are people that have not spent much time around our staff at public affairs and/or are not knowledgeable about some of the day to day "going's on" around the GTAA.

....and on the Ralph note...he did not go to bowl games or having winning records in 2004 or 2005. Imagine these boards if that even happened ONE year at Georgia Tech!

Ralph has had three 10-seasons, won an ACC title, played in a BCS bowl, won National Coach of the Year, 3-1 bowl record (vs. 2-3 for CG), and better overall record than CG. In fact, Fridge's record represents the second best record for any ACC coach in his first 6 years.

Yeah, it would really suck if we had those results.

Well, you obviously missed the point JTS. What hiveredtech was suggesting was that even with the results of his first 3 years if Fridge had done that at Tech and followed with 2 losing seasons as he's done at MD, we'd have people on here ready to get rid of him.

Not as many as you'd think. I believe that many Tech fans including me would rather have a few very good years out of 5, versus 5 straight mediocre seasons.
It would not surprise me one bit if Chan's marching orders from Braine were to get us in a "bowl game" every year, any bowl game because that will satisfy this fan base.

You are one of my favorite posters but damn if you don't say some of the craziest stuff at times. You honestly believe this?

Ralph treatment would be even better than Hewitt's. He would of been an enourmously popular hire and would of been worshipped like a god for the first 4 years with those results. Would probably have gotten some mild critisism the 2nd bowl less year.
