Chris to Bama...

Bummer if that's the case. This was the AJC report from Friday:

Henry County receiver Chris Jackson, who committed to Georgia Tech nearly a year ago, spent the weekend on a visit to Alabama.
But the best sales pitch from Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban failed to convince Jackson to switch his allegiance from the Jackets to Alabama.
“The visit went well,” Jackson said Sunday evening. “Alabama did a great job of recruiting me, but I’m still committed to Tech 100 percent.”

He'll be very sorry he did that after PJ throws the ball 25 or so times a game to wide open WR next season. Look for GT to win more games than Alabama, and look for Jackson have second thoughts as he tries to fit in with the other five or six WR that Saban will bring in each year.

I guess he didn't like the idea of having to block somebody on a running play. Well, if you play for PJ as a WR, you will learn to block, but you would get your catches as well if the personnel can throw and catch. At GT it will.

My hope is that he comes to regret his decision.

And thats not a comment on Chris, but on Georgia Tech under PJ.

I really am not worried about PJ being able to get the personnell he needs to make his O work. Hope you enjoy the browner pastures Chris!

I have really grown to like Chris a lot. However, I have always taken a "not with us, potentially against us" attitude when it comes to these types of things. Chris is no exception. I wish him well, but I hope that I never hear his name mentioned ever again.

WR's have to learn to block well to play in the NFL.

This is catastrophic.

Changes in history usually occur after some kind of catastrophic event. It may be 9/11, which sort of changed the spirit of America relative to catastrophic events. Pearl Harbor kind of got us ready for World War II, and that was a catastrophic event.

I expect Tech to bounce back from this catastrophe just like America did after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

This is not a surprise. Chris is a great kid and a great receiver. Chris will be a starter and a success wherever he goes- trust me he is not only that good but will outwork anybody. This is going to be a reality with this type of offense. It will attract good dual threat QB's and RB's but not receivers. To think PJ is going to throw it 25 times a game is ludicrous.

:laugher:

Hell No!

Cause when the going gets tough……..The tough get going!

What the f*** happened to the Jackets I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you beej67, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Saban, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead!

There are several schools that I could have understood him leaving for (Tennessee, Florida, Clemson, FSU, etc.), but this just doesn't make any sense. Alabama already had 6 commitments from WR's, and could be getting another from Julio Jones. I really don't understand how someone like Chris, who seems to be a pretty intelligent young man, can't see through Saban's snake oil salesman BS.

I've seen PJ throw it 40 times a game, so don't tell me that 25 is ludicrous. I've spent almost two decades watching PJ's offense. I know what he's capable of doing if he's got the right players. Sure he wants to run it first. The best coaches will tell you that you run to set up the pass.

At Navy, he never had a QB who could throw it or OL that were big and physical enough to allow a passing game to work. At GSU he had fast enough athletes to allow the running game to thrive. When you're rushing for 400+ yards and 50 points a game, you don't have to throw it a lot.

When properly executed, no defense, no BCS opponent can stop this offense. It creates mismatches with the D, and when the D is outmanned, big yardage and lots of points result. Defenses can't put eight in the box because it opens up the pass. They can't drop off for pass protection becuase it gets the backs into the second level of the D too quickly.

There may be a few growing pains at first, but the more plays the team gets with this O, the better they will be able to execute it. If you look at some of the videos that have been posted on this site of the '99 GSU offense, you will see a finely tuned machine. That O was simply amazing.

Doesn't make sense to me either. Saban probably "assured him" that he wouldn't be buried deep in the depth chart, lol.

If PJ is not lying(or mistaken) about how many times he is going to throw the ball, this should only be a problem the first year or two. WRs are only scared because all they have recently to base their decision off of is his track record at Navy. If he throws the ball 15-20 times a game and has good success at Tech, the WR commits will return.

He was hoodwinked. It's unfortunate.

No, wait CATASTROPHE! IT'S A CATASTROPHE!

Agreed.

Well, the young man is apparently just taking the first steps toward learning about living with the results of his actions.

Let's hope that the time will come when he understands that a person like Saban, who bold-faced lied to his employers, his community and his team time and time again will and has lied to him as well.

It's hard to comprehend when you're a young and impressionable kid (intelligence notwithstanding) that you're nobody special to a self serving predator like Saban, who has educators, politicians and billionaires for belt notches.

Chris Jackson will be just another notch, and he'll by no means be the better for it.

Learning hurts sometimes, kiddo....enjoy Tuscaloosa!

The sad thing is that Alabama is only interested in him because he is an early enrollee that can count against last year. I wonder how many passes he will catch when they convert him to a DB.

My guess is that he's only interested in going to the NFL. The education is secondary.

Let me tell you what the GSU recruiting philosophy was: "Son, you're not coming to GSU for a ticket to the NFL. If you're good enough, they'll find you. You're coming here to get a good education, learn about becoming a man and how to live your life and to win NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

With PJ it worked, just as it did with Erk. Don't forget how successful the man was there. In five years a 62-10 record. First year 9-3 after taking over a 4-7 team. Then three straight years in the NC game. Lost the first in a sleet storm, but won the next two. Made the semi-finals his final season, but lost by 3 points after Navy announced his hire two days before the semi-final game.

Don't worry. PJ will get the right kind of student athletes that want the quality education that GT can give them, while having the opportunity to play for championships.
