Clemson #1 in first CFP rankings

Not feeling the Climpsun luv. Be interesting to see what they do vs. FSU but unless it's a massive blowout I still won't feel it.

öööö. The committee really should have requested your input. Gnats doesn't feel it, guess they go from #1 to somewhere else unless they blowout FSU.

Clemson fans were as delusional and arrogant as dwag fans when they won the NC in '81, but unlike the UGAly people the ensuing decades brought a bit of humility and realism to the CU fans I know and have met.

Dabo's a very good coach (I've never understood the ridicule he gets on ST) and runs as clean a program as a factory can. I have no problem with Clemson as my surrogate team for the playoffs.

What fan base isn't a bit delusional just after winning a NC?

Only real problem I have is Ohio State at #3. If you're going to downvote the Big 12 teams under the logic that they haven't beaten anyone yet this year, you can't reward an Ohio State team that likewise hasn't beaten anyone this year and has struggled way more than Baylor in taking care of mediocre teams. Realistically, Michigan State's resume is more impressive than Ohio State's at this point.

And yes, I realize that this is all moot right now, but it's alarming to see how inconsistent the committee's logic seems to be.

I got no problem pulling for Clemson. Another year of no SEC champion.

I wonder if the SEC has seen the folly of supporting the playoffs. Last year would have been Alabama vs. FSU under the BCS

I think most here find him a bit of a buffoon and a rah-rah guy. On an analytical basis, he couldn't scheme his way out of a wet paper bag if he had to. He brings in talent and lets the coordinators do their jobs. If the coordinators do that, he's a great coach. I respect him because he does his thing and it's brought a sustained level of success. Doesn't mean he's still not a buffoon and rah-rah guy.

That "way of life" wouldn't work here. Johnson fits our program and fan base... We do have a decent level of success against them, so we can give it a little.

I think Dabo is only characterized as a buffoon because his name is "Dabo." He also coaches for a school whose mascot refuses to get treatment for his cocaine addiction.

From every rational perspective, he just seems to be a very good college coach, in the mold of a Pete Carroll. Like Carroll, he does the rah-rah stuff, but when it comes down to business his teams also execute. Many rah-rah guys fall apart once their great recruits have to actually scheme and execute. Ron Zook was a great recruiter who head-butted vending machines, but head-butting vending machines wasn't enough to execute consistently, like the Mississippi State game.

In addition to what FJ said, Dabo's teams are fairly well disciplined on and off the field. He certainly sets the tone and standards.

As an example, I go back to his first game as HC for CU. They had gone thru more than a bit of turmoil and he was certainly more than a bit "rah rah" for that game against us.

But during that game, one of the CU players was walking off the field after a change of possession; Dabo ran over to him, made him go back onto the field and run off the field instead of walking.

That was the first inclination to me that Clemson had a pretty good coach and that was a pretty good example of setting a tone for the team.

After spending 7 years in Greenville and dealing with LOTS of Clemson fans, I will say I've never had a bad experience with Clemson. Gracious losers and humble winners from the Tech standpoint. From my interaction with him and from the people that know him well, he seems like a genuinely good guy. I wish them the best.

Never would criticize his character. Seems to be a decent guy from what I've seen.

Comparing Dabo to Pete Carroll is hilarious. Not close.

They were too busy thinking they could get two or three teams in the playoff. It should have always been conference champs +1 based on ranking.

Count me in on the Clempsun bandwagon. I could not, and would not root for FSU in the playoff. Clemson? Meh. Sure. Fine.

I think Dabo is a stand up guy and good coach. He doesn't need to be the best x/o guy around if he can continue hiring the correct guys. That is basically his job you know. I'd imagine he knows a bit more about the game then you guys give him credit for. I'd love to see Clemson win the NC.
