I think Dabo is a stand up guy and good coach. He doesn't need to be the best x/o guy around if he can continue hiring the correct guys. That is basically his job you know. I'd imagine he knows a bit more about the game then you guys give him credit for. I'd love to see Clemson win the NC.
I wonder if the SEC has seen the folly of supporting the playoffs. Last year would have been Alabama vs. FSU under the BCS
Random story:
Back in 2009 when I was in college, I was getting my hair cut at Great Clips, and in walks Dabo and sits down next to me. I was wearing a GT shirt, and it was within a week of GT beating Clemson in the ACCCG for the 2nd time that year. He immediately noticed my shirt and said, sort of wistfully, "y'all have a great team this year".
From that moment on, I had a lot of respect for the guy.

I'm sure they did not really support the playoff. I'm sure they saw this result, although I bet it is worse than they thought for several reasons.
Beginning with the 2014 season, teams will no longer be playing for a spot in the final two, instead chasing for a spot in the final four, a four-team playoff championed by SEC commissioner Mike Slive ever since Auburn's undefeated 2004 squad failed to get a shot at the title.
For the most part, the SEC's coaches fell into lockstep behind Slive on the issue of the four-team playoff, a product that matched the conference's unity at the spring meetings in Destin.
"The four-team playoff is going to be outstanding," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "Our regular-season games are huge. It's big deal every game we play. I don't want college football to lose that."
"In 2008, he put the four-team playoff on the table," Barnhart said. "It was referred to as a 'plus-one,' but essentially it was this change to the postseason mechanism. He knew that even if it didn't pass it would start the discussion about what the postseason should be like. That's one of the things that makes him a great visionary. He was setting the table for meetings that would happen four years later. Mike Slive got to the table early with the idea and planted the seed."
Pretty neat. I met Taylor Bennett in a convenience store once. My first and only career interception.
So, my takeaway from your story is this: Dabo gets his hair cut at Great Clips?
Yeah. Which ACC coach would you like for a neighbor?
Hard to cheer against Clemson. You have to reach into the academic standards to build up some hate...
This is also why Dabo probably wouldn't work out at GT, at least not to the level he has at Clemson. Outside of the cultural differences between the schools, GT doesn't throw money at assistants like Clemson does. Do you think we would be able to afford Brent Venables and Chad Morris at Georgia Tech? Nope. I have to imagine that Dabo's results would look different if he had Patrick Nix and Dave Wommack on staff.

People still mistake calling Dabo a clown for disparagement of his coaching ability. I like Clemson fans more than anyone we play, I enjoy our rivalry with them overall and for me personally it's nice to have that without the hatred I carry for other conference foes like Florida State, VPI and Miami. From what I've seen, Dabo and CPJ have a lot of respect for one another and I respect what Dabo has done with Clemson after coming in as an interim in kind of a tricky position. I hope Clemson does win out and I hope they win the national crown this year, I'll be first to congratulate them if they pull it off.
But Dabo is a goofy, highly-entertaining clown.
Even then, they are the jewel of the state of South Carolina and if they were SEC would probably be just below Vandy on the academic scale.
Uh, after Florida.
Clemson is the ACC dwags.....öööö that
