Coaching Search Update

Say what you will about Johnson, but he did something Gailey never did and Collins couldn’t do. He and his offense got Georgia’s attention. The Tech-Georgia game is 12 days away, and I guarantee you no UGA fan – except maybe Jeff Dantzler, who worries about everything – has given a thought to the Jackets. Maybe J Batt, the new AD, will find a coach capable of making Tech scary again. Darned if I know who that person might be
I know Dantzler. And I guess it was after the 14 or 16 win on the Mutts post game show and he was very, very complimentary of PJ, the offense and Tech.

I’m not an insider but I’m seeing info in other places from sources that claim to be.

We have narrowed it to 3 main candidates (Key is possible but not likely).

The presumed top 3 (from these insiders):
1. Chadwell
2. Clark
3. Houston
Link?

Same here.

Last I heard about Key was he had a good chance if he beat Miami, and it was his if he got UNC as well. Losing to Miami pretty much takes him out.

I’m hoping for Clark but would be happy with Chadwell too. I hope Chadwell considers upgrading his D staff though

Big sigh if it is Mike Houston.

I mean, it went great for GT the last time they got an ECU head coach right? I mean, it went great for GT the last time they got an AAC head coach right? I'm sure both those hires weren't both the worst in the history of GT football.

Mike Houston isn't even the best JMU coach available. That would be Curt Cignetti.

That one won't get the fans blood pumping off the field, so he'd damn well better get it done on the field. Failure to show marked improvement will invite the BL and GC comparisons early and often.

Brent Key's chance to be head coach ended with a Jeff Sims rolled ankle at the end of regulation against Duke.

Chadwell is the appropriate choice. Hiring coaches is no sure thing, just like idiot Bradley is now admitting. Chadwell has shown he can put points on the board and has won. I would give the nod to him over any assistant trying to learn on the job. Monken should be in the mix but everyone is falsely looking at current results over entire body of work. He has proven he can win at an academy much like Johnson did and in my opinion that worked out pretty well.
