Collins At Georgia

He's sitting beside me at the Pace Academy baseball game right now. What should I say to him?

Pace Academy. His daughter apparently goes there.

Hi Coach, tough break at the Flats, I was really pulling for you. Hope things work out for you in the future. My son wants to wankle your daughter. Have you got any coaching opportunities on the horizon?

"Coach, I'm looking at making my college football program into a laughing stock.
"Got any tips?"

I would go up and say hi. He's actually a nice guy. He is a coaching gambit that didn't work out, so he and his AD were fired. Time to move on.

Also, sneakily posting incognito shots of someone online is creepy. I was at that same game, and I would have told you the same to your face.

Sorry to have offended you Mrs. Collins. He's a public figure in a public venue. Not sure how this is any different than the photo of him at Ugag or any other place. Its not like I was hanging around his house and taking pictures of him. And if you're such a big Tech fan and was at that game, not a huge crowd, why not say Hi to, at least my wife, wearing a Georgia Tech sweatshirt sitting right beside me. She was the only person there in Tech clothing. I always speak to anyone at any place if they are wearing Tech stuff.

Collins is a Stingtalk meme now. It may be classless to get the pic, but I'd say allowable.

Hey, I surely would have said hi if I had been sitting near you (I was on the first base side), or if I hadn't been trying to keep my kids from going berserk. We stayed for 3 innings and then bounced.

My point isn't about whether it is legal to post a picture of someone online for a forum to dissect; I'm not an attorney and I don't know. I'm just saying that secretly snapping a picture of someone (I'm assuming you didn't go say hi), and then posting it online for public digestion feels mean spirited, petty, and my gut reaction was to suggest that we collectively move on. This is a 9 page thread about sightings of our ex coach.

Leave Collins alone. He didn't hire himself. He wasn't on the board that approved his own contract. He didn't say "I'm my guy, and I'm keeping myself." It was sad to have to fire him, but it was the right thing to do. But keeping on talking about him just makes Tech look bad.

Nebraska’s spring game is Saturday, then we can obsess over Sims and how he is doing.

No it doesn't. Whatever is said about Collins on Stingtalk, so few people will ever read it or even be aware of it that it doesn't even move the needle. At worst it might make "people of Stingtalk" look bad, but I'd say that's no factor either, but even if that were the case this would be just one more line in a very long ledger. Again, no factor.
