Commit #8 is in...

Looks solid in the highlight video. More of a place kicker than a punter. 50 yard leg that can stretch out to 55. Most KOs high and deep in the end zone with several 10 yards out of the back of the end zone. I don mind using a scholly on a kicker...just can't afford to miss.
 
Notice how calm and cool this kid is after every kick? Reminds me of Sisson's reaction after nailing the kick versus UVA in 90'....just trots down the field. Stone cold.

Kickers who celebrate all the time like most of the Billies UGA has had over the years are pretty big head cases.

I like this kid's demeanor...A LOT.
 
Isn't this kid rated the #3 kicker in the nation by rivals and then they go and give him 2 stars? So, wait, we get punished in the rankings for signing the #3 kicker in the nation?

And people say there's nothing rotten in the state of Denmark?

In the team rankings, there is usually extra points for nationally ranked players (by position).

edit: Apparently scout does that but not for kickers. Rivals changed their methodology, they have this new 'rivals rating' measure, whatever that is.

He is a kicker. Most schools don't offer them for a reason.

As others have mentioned, he just needs to learn to put his leg down when he's done kicking. He's leaving himself too exposed to a diving player the way he hops around and freezes (a lot like basketball players who've shot a 3 - waiting to see if it goes in).

Really? I mean they don't offer them OFTEN because you don't really need to fill 8 kicker positions like you do LB, but even the top schools definitely offer them.

Last year's number 1 and 2 classes (Texas and Alabama) both offered kickers. SC offered a kicker AND a punter in 2011.
 
My son was at the same kicking camp. On the KO the Westminister kid put it about 10 row up in the North Stands with hang time. He kicked the snot out of it.

At the beginning of the camp they told everyone they had one scholarship for a kicker and they hope to find him that day.

BTW: my son is an upcoming freshman. He went for the experience. Learned a lot from the older guys. He came home from the camp and started kicking off the ground. He is hitting 40 yards consistently. Now if the team would only find a snapper and holder:furious: and a willingness to use him.
 
Hopefully this kicker is the real deal and comes in and nails it down. Moore has been bust since he got here. I don't know if it's in his mechanics or in his head but too many of his kicks are just "shanks". I like that this kid said he wanted to come here and be a 4 year starter. Great attitude! He could make a world of difference to our special teams and the Defense with his KO's...

Then why bother ranking them at all or give them stars for that matter? Just keep them out of the calculation if they don't matter.

It's just one more strike against the almighty star system. It's complete bunk.

So, would you rather not offer this kid because he's a kicker?

Mr. flip-flopper... so that ajc article was a bunch of BS. I thought he said he was going to wait it out and make his decision later down the road. If he had stayed committed to GT and flips to Vanderbilt during signing day, then all hell will break loose on this forum. I think he saved us from that heart ache. It would have been nice to have him, but I'll think CAG will find a suitable replacement.

Any coach who makes offers based on the star system needs to be fired post-haste.
