Considering Collins is staying, what news this coming week.....

I am thinking ibeeballin was right and the DC is probably going to be Taver Johnson. Been an assistant with the Raiders the last couple years, but much better resume than Thacker. Very curious what we do on offense, if anything. I have no guesses there.
Wasn't Taver Johnson the DC for Geoff Collins when they were at Temple? If so why didn't CGC bring him to GT with him?

He’s been a defensive coordinator for one year of his career, 2017 Temple team that went 7-6. Not an exciting hire, I hope that rumor isn’t true
Not endorsing the guy, but a 7-win Temple season has to be worth a few thousand 3-win Tech seasons. But then it's been a while since I've checked the exchange rates.

I trust ibee’s defensive judgement.

I agree on the defensive side of the ball, however if the O-line isn't shored up exponentially, then we'll be in the same boat IMO.
We are recruiting o linemen well but it takes 4 years to recruit enough for an entire two deep roster.

will get you encouraged for 2022? For me it's keep the recruiting class intact, don't lose any key players to the portal, Hire an OC/DC with a PROVEN track record, Collins drops the clown show act.

thacker has to be gone
nate burton has to be gone
brent key being gone would not be a bad idea, except it will never happen as collins would eat way too much crow than his keto arse can handle after referring to key as the best OL coach in the nation....then why u fire him?

possibly popovich can go
possibly patenaude, although I think he is doing enough right now to warrant one more year

Frankly, firing 4-5 assistants is completely justified and probably should be done.

What happens? 1 guy leaves...maybe 2 tops. I would not be shocked if collins makes no moves at all....status quo...cuz he knows he is gone next year anyway and sinks this ship

Then, he will officially be cemented in GT lore as the worst head coach of all time, bumping lewis and G**** C****** will be official

If clown collins returns program improvement is doubtful.
just focus on what you can afford while eliminating major program embarassment.
A new dance choreographer who will put juicers under the stands out of fans sight.
someone who knows football words to do the press conferences.
some who can fill out a two deep making AboveTheLine go away.
new S and C coach who will keep weightlifting in gym and off sidelines
mostly a new PA announcer who won't say Money Down!

This is simply not true; while aren't going to pay top 10 assistant coach staff salaries, we can be competitive. The biggest problem is finding coordinators who want to come join a lame duck coach.
But we haven’t been competitive since, arguably O’Leary and the Fridge. And more precisely since the Ross years. That’s the last time we had a great HC and great coordinators.

Ibeeballin thought our current coaches would succeed greatly when they came in. His perspective is no better than any other fan regarding coaching hires.

New DC. If our D is even mediocre this year, we'd be bowling right now. Unfortunately it is awful, and it's definitely not down just to talent.

This team isn't as far away from being decent next year as people think.
With a new staff they’d be decent immediately.

This is true. Anything from the D and we could be 6-6.

I don't GAF if the guy has a proven track record at a great school yada yada whatever. I just don't want the 2021 marshmallow scheme anymore. Anything different would make me happy.

I would like to see some changes on O also.

I predicted 5-7 this season but the ACC was historically inept. Hope that changes today with the rivalry games.

Any kind of decent coaching and we should have been 7-5/8-4. Who knows we might even had won the Coastal.

Relax. It's who he said might get hired, not his recommendation. I am just reading tea leaves and making a prediction.

We pay Coordinators $400K to $500K and the market average is $750K to low 7 figures, with the Top Coordinators in the industry now getting $2.5MM per yr on 3 yr guaranteed deal.

Please tell me how $400K to $500K is competitive when P5 guys are getting $750K up to $2.5MM?

Would you take that kind of cut in pay in your industry?

Coaches are mercenaries, they take their Coaching Talents to the Programs that can pay the most Money, only then will they spout those BS lines about character and developing Young Men to create a better society, yada yada yada.

You saying we can be competitive is one thing, but we have never been competitive in Pay, maybe back in the Days of Dodd where Attendance drove Coaches Pay, but not in the TV Era have we ever been competitive in paying coaches.
We are never going to competitive with paying top 20 program salaries. Whats your plan B?
