When do you all think we need to worry about Geoff not getting a contract extension yet? Recruiting will really start to suffer if he just keeps cruising on his initial deal. I really think this is the year everything g comes together and we get over the hump of the past few seasons.

What we absolutely can not happen is Geoff to win 6 or 7 this year and then be a hot commodity and take a job at some SEC school (Auburn?). Need to lock him up for At least a few more years and make sure there is an ironclad buyout.

I hear he just dropped $5M on a new spread north of Chastain Park, so maybe it’s in the works.

Well that's not a good financial decision. Is he really that delusional to think that's a good idea?
why?

he’s likely to be the HC here for AT LEAST another 5 years or so. We win 6 this year, 6 or 7 next, and then he’ll finally have his recruits and everything in order and we’ll be off to the races.

Buy low before the upcoming turnaround. This makes complete sense.
Exactly. Clearly Geoff isn’t getting 6 or 7 million right NOW. But what if he wins 7 this season. He could probably get it elsewhere and we’re ööööed.

But if we can lock him up for $5M or so for 3 or 4 more years, maybe all of his talk about loving ATL and Waffle House will keep him happy.

Yeah, remember 2014 when Bobonski slow played CPJ's extension until after the Orange Bowl win. Probably cost us more. I would aim to get it done after WCU. A win over Ole Miss the following week will have his stock pretty high.

Says the man with the clown nose Collins as his prof pic.

@Diseqc Is right, what we really need to do is ensure the coach’s contract never hinders recruiting. Maybe the AA can put their heads together and figure out some sort of language for automatic rollover terms so that we don’t even have to worry about it being a factor.
