Agree, although it would have been fun to watch LSU beat the shit out of the dwags again.
 
Expanding it would water it down. The conference title games are already a defacto expanded playoff. Utah, Baylor and uga lost their elimination games. You wanna bring a lousy uga in? A G5 to get slaughtered? A meh 2 loss Oregon? No way.

4 team playoff ---> approaching 4 worthy teams to fill those spots (tua's Bama not Okla), it's taken a few years
8 team playoff ---> guaranteed path to championship for all teams will result in a spread the wealth effect with players coaches resources, and the teams worthy of being in a playoff will approach 8, it will take a few years

Watching it live I was shocked they didn't call it dead immediately. They're usually quick to call a dropped ball an incomplete pass instead of an interception. I think knowing the magnitude of the moment, they didn't want to stop the play (since replay could undo a mistaken fumble call, but not a mistaken incomplete call).

Personally I wouldn't mind more fumbles (and more holds), might help to restrain the passing overweight that's taken over football. But given normal officiating practices these days, calling a no-catch was the right call.
 
The conversation over that reviewed incompletion is asinine and tOSU's AD is an imbecile for his comments. ESPN and the Buckeye homer fucks attempted to manufacture controversy from a call that is as obvious as they come. You only even have time to imagine a hypothetical "football move" if you're watching it in slow motion, and even then you are ööööing imagining it.

Fans like Ohio State's cannot cope with losing and being losers, so they need something else, anything else, to deflect blame towards. öööö them, öööö anyone giving life to this non-issue, and while you're at it, öööö Kirby Smart too. He's as relevant to this conversation as the fake controversial call is to the CFP final.

If he was falling to the ground and the ball similarly popped out, everyone would suddenly agree he “didn’t complete the process of the catch.” So, why should the fact the ball was ripped out before he could do that change things?

The number of articles and tweets produced by each scenario have a lot more to do with it than anything involving the sport of football, of that I'm sure.
 
I, for one, like that the scoop 6 play was called back and controversial. Now everyone will get a full dose of obnoxious Ohioans.

The result of one game doesn’t invalidate the logical solution. Football is a flawed sport. It’s too violent to play enough games to statistically differentiate teams. Having 120+ teams each play 12 games to build a resumé is beyond dumb. Name 1 other sport in the world that comes close to doing that.

The whole point of conferences is to break the 120+ teams into smaller groups to determine who is best from the subset. Then those teams should play each other. We’ve already had a 4 seed win the whole thing.

Hell I’d even be okay with only allowing conference champs into the playoff. But there needs to be an on-field route for every team to win a title. Right now the media has FAR too much influence.
 
Preach it brother. 16-team playoff with all conference champions. No at large can be ranked ahead of P5 champion. Higher seed hosts first round. Regional matchups affect seeding.

Add Indianapolis/Detroit to mix of stadiums that host a 2nd round game for Big ten travel purposes.
