Demjackets is being unfairly criticized

If you support continuing CG as coach at GT regardless of his performance for the rest of the year, then one of three things is true:

1) You think CG has done as well as any coach possibly could do under the circumstances. He will turn the program around but just needs more time.

2) You think GT can never do any better than we currently are doing and could certainly do worse. You fear the "worse" enough not to risk the "better."

3) You just like CG and don't care about the performance of the team under him.


I can understand #1 but disagree with it. At some point, you have to define "more time" unequivocally.

#2 is depressing to me and I can't get excited about the team without the "hope" of doing better.

No one (outside personal friends and family) will publicly admit to #3, but I seriously think some people fall in this category, even if they don't admit it to themselves. They prefer a coach that they like who doesn't perform over one they dislike who does perform.

I think there is also a '4':

4) You've gotten into a routine of defending Chan since day one when posters with no good reason wanted him fired, and now like the Chan haters have a biased opinion.

I suspect that if I was DRAD I would have a mole or two or three that read the more popular GT message boards including The Hive and Buzzoff to check the scuttlebutt of the community on a frequent basis. Since Demjackets has implied he has at least read Stingtalk from work, I would think it would take the GTAA administrator about 4 seconds to figure out who he is, so I'm assuming he is permitted to do so. However, Demjackets should be careful about posting news or opinions about the program that can be construed as negative toward individuals, or are not being released to the public officially in short order. I hope he continues to post, the insider info is great for this place; but I also hope he doesn't get himself called into his boss's office. Demjackets, just use discretion, that is all.

Why does every one seem to think this man needs a babysitter? He's probably a grown man with a job like you. Do, you really think he didn't know what he was doing when he posted. And, y'all can say what you want about recruiting...You think that other schools don't have message boards with people unhappy with the coach, get real you guys... I'd be willing to bet we are tame compared to other schools. If I was looking at Tech I'd be more anxious to go if the AD made it clear we were about winning...and spent the money to get a high profile coach. We have top notch facilities, we are in a prime location, good conference, play on tv all the time, we just need a spurrier type coach and tech football will take off...

I actaully think the chance Drad is demjackets is >1% or about the same odds Chan has of leeping his job if he doesn't win at least 8 and beat ugag.

Untrue. Demjackets has said the program is stagnant and Chan should go if we want to reach a 'higher level' than we are now. That is most definitely not at all what DRad has said. DRad has said, repeatedly, "hold your horses and lets see how things pan out." If Demjackets was saying what DRad is saying, nobody'd be jumping on him.

If I were DRad, and found out about this mess, I'd fire Demjackets on the spot. If I were Demjackets, I'd insulate myself from being fired by making a new font to stick anything my boss might find "subversive" in. And yeah, calling for a coach's head from inside the coach's organization is subversive, every bit as much as calling for a CEO's head is. It gets people in the 'real world' fired all the time.

I'm not a censorship type of dude. But knowledge is power, and with power comes responsibility, and with responsibility comes risk. I like Demjackets, I like his posts, I like the knowledge he brings, and I don't want him driven from Stingtalk. I do want him to be careful what he says, for his own good as well as the overall good of the program.

The intarweb is all fun and games until someone reads it.

Keep it up arsehole and Dem will disappear from this board.
