Did we lose our starting QB early in the game? I forget

Hot take: I think Sims was hurt before kickoff.
Short armed a couple of open outs andbadly missed two open receives down field. If he was hurt show some balls and pull him or don't start him. I guess all the slick hype videos need to be backed up by some substance and accountability from all involved. 18 point favorites. Let that sink in.

I hope that’s true. The only thing worse than his aim was Collin’s decision making.

On another note, I’m pleasantly surprised StingTalk isn’t blaming the terrible call on the 2pt conversion that literally cost the game.

Sims played like balls but I think it’s too early to give up on him. If we want to win games, we need his talent. Let‘s see how he does against KS provided he can play.

At the very least he was hindered by our trash coaching staff.

Their plays resulted in wide open passes that Sims missed. He missed at least 4 TD passes to open receivers. Game could have been over in the first half.

Who teaches throwing fundamentals again? Who decides the depth chart based on performance and put him over the guy that was actually throwing strikes? Were those guys open because of skilled play calling or because there is a massive talent disparity?

That doesn’t sound like a second year starting QB in a developmental program to me

Sims stats in high school were pedestrian at best. Not sure why we think he’d be that much improved under this staff.

Gibbs disappointment is dumb. Nothing disappointing about that man.
The nit I would pick on Gibbs is that he doesn't seem to realize he isn't competing against HS competition anymore. On Tech's next to last position on the last 3rd down he was motoring toward the edge and looked like if he kept going he would have made the drive-extending first down. But he stopped and tried to cut it upfield and got stopped a yard short. Then on the last drive instead of going out of bounds and saving clock, he spun and tried to break it for more yardage. I'm sure those two moves gained him a lot of extra yards in HS but they aren't going to work against D1 competition.

You are being very generous to Northern Illinois. They are in fact terrible and one of the worst teams in the country.

He does a lot of stutter step motions too instead of cutting upfield. I thought that looked like a new addition as I don’t recall it last year
