Serious question. Why are cut blocks legal?
Finally, for those who listened to our game on the radio, didn't that GT PA guy get under your skin with that dramatic "first down" declaration?
Paul Johnson is an embarrassment to the ACC, D1 CFB ... even my GT friend acknowledge that he is a complete hazard to every NFL aspiring ACC player

Who else has found some bigcrys from the Coastal Rednecks?

CPJ called the cut block call bogus on post game after talking to his OL. What did the tape look like?

Tackle got knocked down blocking his guy and ended up rolling the guard's guy's leg while the guard was still engaged high. I don't know if that's worth the call since it didn't look intentional.

It was a chop. Good call. Blown assignment. Almost cost us the game.

CPJ said it wasn’t. He was going off what the OL said though. He said LG tripped/fell and C blocked NT so he tripped over LG.

Looked pretty blatant to me on the replay though.

I didn't see the beginning of the cut to see if it was him tripping. Thought it was the wrong assignment. Even if unintentional, it's still a chop.

After all these years, I’m amazed people still think cut blocks are an option/service academy/Tech only thing.

Every team cuts. NFL teams do it as well.

I'm sure that the Hokies can produce a long list of players "crippled" (as they called it) by Johnson's nefarious blocking schemes.

I don’t think you can have an unintentional chop - meaning it’s not simple contact high and low. It’s being engaged high/low. Blocking a guy high while he trips over someone else, who isn’t actively trying to also block that same guy, isn’t a chop...I don’t think so anyway.

Regardless, it’s near impossible to ask refs diagnose that in a bang-bang play. I have no problem with the call. It sure looked to me to be one.

I think one of these crybabies was sitting in my section. Kept asking why cut blocks are illegal in the NFL.

Not understanding the difference between a cut block and a chop block seems almost universal amongst the more vocal hokies.

The “allowing 2 long passing TDs” to us just shows a glaring lack of understanding of the teams and their game plan against us. They walk their safeties down to crowd the LOS to limit the dive and occasionally blow up an option play possibly creating a turnover. It’s had decent success against us over the years. But it leaves you susceptible to getting beat over the top. We had it wide open 3 times and hit 2 of them. They still held us to 28 which their coaches would have taken before the game. Just so happens roof is fuentes kryptonite.

We’ve had a ton a of passing TDs against them. But don’t usually hit our season points average. But asking a hokie to actually understand the game that’s unfolding in front of them is asking a lot.

The Patriots won the Superbowl against the Falcons with the help of an illegal chop block - performed by a former GT player and a former UGAg player.

VT fans are correct about the play calling at the end. I would have gone for the first down on a run on third then taken 4 shots at the endzone. Of course, we would have picked off one of the passes and kneed it down for the victory!
