Well first off I know we do not sell out all our games with the current capacity we have now, so it probably doesn't make sense to expand it.
There would have to be a need for GT to expand. The best way to have a need is for GT to consistently win games. The best way to win games is to have a HC who can coach, teach, motivate, promote GT, & recruit young players as well as win the confidence of GT fan base. On top of that, GT would need to be competitive in the paying of the coach's salary.
I have been a supporter of CCG since he arrived and I will continue to be. At the same time, at his age I wonder just how long he expects to stay at GT. I do wish the GTAA would keep an eye out for a young man who would like a future at GT and understood what it would take for GT to be a consistent powerhouse. At present I don't see this happening anytime soon. I consider CCG to be a very good coach but not necessarily a good spokesman/promoter of GT. It's evident that he does NOT carry the support of the GT fanbase as he should. If anyone doubted that statement, all they would have to do is read Stingtalk.
If we did, however, increase the capacity from 55,000 to maybe 70,000 and also design it in such a way that it had amazing acoustics like VT's, maybe we'd be seen more as a legitimate big-time program. If you remember, we used to have a south section that made a horseshoe and it was taken out to put in a building. This could also help with recruiting and eventually fill more of the seats.
I'd love BDS to be known as a loud, intimidating place to play. :D
Yessir, and I too. !!
Just a thought.
