Dodged A Bullet

Tech wasn't "able" to hire anyone else. Stop this ridiculousness that Key is the best man for the job. He's the only one that would accept the job. Tech wasn't interested in fielding a competitive P5 offer to anyone even remotely desirable. There doesn't seem to be any plan to bring Tech football back to relevance. Just as long as the product on the field isn't embarrassing we will keep the train moving.
You don't know one way or the other what was going on or who we could or couldn't hire. You're just being an asshole.

I would agree that there were not a bunch of big-name coaches in line who wanted to coach at GT and take over the crapola that CGC left. This will be a tougher rebuild than CPJ leaving. CPJ at least left football players. CBK has got to turn this roster into football players. Using the O'leary coaching philosophy, Key should give us a tougher more disciplined team than what we started this season with.

I don't understand the hand wringing and bellyaching over Chadwell and Fritz though. Am I the only one that has noticed that neither of them is heading to a P5 program? They weren't, and still aren't P5 coaching material, and everyone knows that except the anti-Key types who think that Chadwell is the next superstar in coaching, and we missed out.

Deion is more interesting; but I think he laid the groundwork day 1 at Colorado to either be a success or have some serious contention in the locker room next season.

I think you are confusing hearsay and your opinions with facts. I get it... It is an easy thing to do.

Deion should be calling these guys personally.

“I actually never got contacted by Deion or any of his new staff. I got called. They told me that coach Deion didn’t want to honor my commitment and hung up the phone.”

That is pretty classless. Deion needs to man up.

Since hiring Deion Sanders, 13 Colorado recruits have already lost their scholarships (msn.com)

Offensive lineman Tyrone McDuffie had a similar experience to Mott, feeling he was misled by the school’s athletic director, Rick George.
“[George] called me and my dad and he wanted the 2023 class to stay together. He said I was going to have a chance to be a Colorado Buffalo regardless of who he hired,” said McDuffie, who honored his commitment, even after the coach that recruited him, Karl Donnell, was let go. “Nobody from the new coaching staff called me. You could say there was a little bit of anger, frustration. This was our future they were messing with.”

I hope Deion and Colorado go to trash. I thought Deion and Colorado had more class and character than this.

Reading through these threads, it seems we've done the same thing with a few recruits. This isn't a Deion thing. Blame the AD for sticking his nose in it.
We honored our scholarships been had offered under CPJ. We did tell a few we would prefer they seek other opportunities

Deion not giving the news to the recruits himself is definitely a Deion thing. If Key is not giving the news to our recruits himself either, then that is a Key thing and I am disappointed.

That’s not the issue, it’s the way it’s being handled that’s the issue.

The program in Boulder is a mess right now. I think I read they had the worst win/loss record of all Power 5 schools over the last 8 years. The facilities are way behind the average Power 5 programs as well. While I agree that they way Deion and the school have handled things regarding these 13 recruits, I think there is a great need there to clean house and start over. I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything yet about the returning players being purged of their scholarships. Depending on how well Deion does with the portal, I bet that will be the next news coming out of Boulder.

Clown did the same thing with a couple offensive line recruits if I recall.

What I remember was a report of some sort of ghosting. Not really a "your scholly is pulled despite telling you it wouldn't be" by a non-coach staffer. I imagine they still had a spot on the team but read between the lines. Still a dick move.

You guys are all wrong, this is a bonafide business now. Unless these kids were publicly and vocally dissenting against NIL until it was enacted, they get what they got. If you can't perform and there is money on the line, bye.

If my boss wants to come in, drop a severance check on my desk and walk out without saying a word, he can do that. If he wants the janitor to do it for him, he can do that. While I may not respect how somebody handles their business, it's their bottom line and in this case it's wins.

Deion will win. We may not like how he gets there and it may not be a national title but he will win. Welcome to grown up land fellas.

If your boss sends the janitor to fire you, it would be a classless move.....just like Deion. :dunno:

What are we wrong about? No one is arguing that Deion can't do this. We're saying it is classless and we don't like it. Much like how you said you wouldn't like your boss sending the janitor in to fire you even if it's his right.

*the way he's going about it is classless

Coaches do this all the time. Recruits do it to.

I'm committed to GT. Then two days before NSD, Saban calls them up, "son, our prime target flipped to LSU so you want to be part of the Crimson Tide?" "Hell yeah, bruh."

Anyway you are only hearing about it because it's Deion.
