Does This Sound Familiar?

except for maybe Saban

Hah. I meant coaches who haven't tried it yet. Although I wouldn't be shocked if Saban thinks he could succeed in the NFL if he really wanted to. His NFL tenure was far from a disaster, it wasn't really an Urban Meyer situation.

Why would he want to go to the NFL where he would have to deal with a salary cap?
To join a very select list of coaches that have won a NC and a Super Bowl. Right off the top of my head, Jimmy Johnson, Pete Carroll, and Barry Switzer are the only ones to do it.

If the Dolphins had pulled the trigger on Drew Brees instead of the Saints, Saban might still be there and won a couple of Super Bowls.

Switzer on that list means it isn't elite, more like good coach or strolled into a team on autopilot

If Barry Switzer isn’t elite, no one is. He won 84 percent of his games at Oklahoma. The only coach in the modern era to have a higher winning percentage at a major, D1 program is Urban Meyer.

The whole system needs to be blown up. College football should require that someone gain admission to the school first and make the football team second. Putting this in reverse is the source of all ills.
LOL, 95% of football teams wouldn’t have players to fill a team.

Oil money speaks, after all, they DO have a library their football team can be proud of. Ok, now visions of Stewart's comic book store on Big Bang Theory comes to mind!

Agree 100%. It would never happen, but end recruiting. If you want to go to State U then go to State U. If you want to play football then play football, or basketball, or tennis, debate team, whatever.
