Expansion

FSU and Clemson are opposing it as leverage to try to get themselves out of the ACC and the GOR. It's that simple.
but how does opposing it gain leverage to get out? so far all signs point to you can't leave the acc without financial suicide.

it doesn't, but by then, ACC implodes. which is why i can't figure out why fsu and clems against it. since they obviously havent figured out a way out of GOR, might as well earn a few extra bucks waiting for it to expire.
How many years are Stanford and SMU willing to go without any ACC tv money? I’m not so sure that FSU and Clemson are going to escape anytime soon- if that is the case then this “deal“ is going to lower every member’s payout eventually...

No one - and I mean NO ONE - in DFW gives two öööös about SMU.
And nobody in the ACC cares about that, the only thing SMU brings is increased acc network carriage fees for the Dallas market (or maybe all of TX?)

Why do other conferences look so smooth and decisive in what they do, while the ACC looks so ridiculous trying to make an expansion decision in public for three weeks and letting it drag into the FB season? Why would anybody do business this way. Why would anybody want to join a conference like this? Why does ND get a vote on things affecting FB? Man, the last year has proven the person who's the commissioner of a conference is very important. This is embarrassing.
Your answer- Tobacco Rd. mafia Dip$hits just keep on doing what they’ve always done- fck EVerything up.

I have to wonder if fsu, clem and anyone else who votes against it are going to try and atempt to use this expansion as some sort of a legal reason to file breech of contract with the ACC and escape?

Did you see Is it true that his Dad was also trying to get him to go into the game?
I didn't see that part, but I watched him walk away from a coach when I thought he was about to go in. The only reason I was watching is I was wondering if he was gonna get some reps in or if he was still injured. I didn't realize, at first, he was just REFUSING to play. I would have watched more intently otherwise

I remember that he was medically definitely cleared to play if needed, he is easily my least favorite GT player in recent memory

No one will be getting more money, new teams will get less or nothing and existing teams will get the same plus additional funds to cover west coast travel

This is not true. Estimated are for an additional 5mil per year. Far more than travel expenses. If your statement is true, then the vote will not pass and I'm okay with that. Also, the travel expenses suck for Calford, not so much for every other school, as it's not like they will have to go to California all the time. Also, there's not a huge difference in flying to the Bay area vs flying to Boston.

Why? I say let some teams die.

Stanford will be a direct competitor to GT when the ACC falls, if we allow them membership.
If Stanford is that big of a competitor to Tech for a spot after ACC implosion, then we're already ööööed. You're putting too much stock in it anyways. Atlanta and Bay area are apples and oranges when it comes to markets for realignment.

This is about money in the short term for the inevitable ACC implosion. Also, with the new reports today, it's about securing better teams to be above 15 teams when schools leave (were are ööööed regardless at that point)

That is what so many don’t seem to get. The Dallas market consists of Texas, TCU, and Oklahoma fans. But mostly Cowboys fans.
I spoke with a guy from Boston and asked him about BC. He laughed and said no one in New England gives two cruds about them.
The ACC is chasing a fantasy with bringing in programs like this and believing they will help deliver a major TV audience

Wut?

ATL to SFO is 5.5 hours with a 3 hour time change. ATL to BOS is 2.5 hours with no time change.
5.5 hours? You flying through Europe?

ETA: I just checked, and it now takes 5:15 to get from ATL to SFO non-stop. That's just longer than I remember, but it's been almost 30 years since I flew out there, so maybe not.

So, if you takeoff at noon, then on touchdown it's 2:30 local time either way.

I'm just thinking about how bad it is for non-revenue sports. Think about baseball - 1pm Sunday first pitch West Coast, finish by 4pm, get to the airport at 6pm for a 7pm takeoff, 3am or so landing in ATL on Monday morning. Back to campus at 4am, get 3 hours of sleep for that 8am class.
