Expansion

Maybe I'll get used to thinking of Cal as an ACC school but I kind of doubt it, I think. Way back when, I did an internship in the Bay area with Cal's backup QB at the time. Boy was he in over his head. I bailed him out so many times I lost count. That's a story for a tailgate if I can ever make one.

Have we even played Cal since the Roy Reigels' incident?

Lost to Cal 34-22 in 1978…toward the end of the Pepper era

How does this make financial sense once the new teams start taking full 40 mil/year shares?

Why do other conferences look so smooth and decisive in what they do, while the ACC looks so ridiculous trying to make an expansion decision in public for three weeks and letting it drag into the FB season? Why would anybody do business this way. Why would anybody want to join a conference like this? Why does ND get a vote on things affecting FB? Man, the last year has proven the person who's the commissioner of a conference is very important. This is embarrassing.

Because at least a quarter of the teams in the ACC don't want to be in the ACC and aren't going to do anything that strengthens the conference.

Heck, Notre Dame doesn't want to be in the ACC but they let them vote like a full member.

Don’t want this expansion but if we are going to do it I’d rather have Stanford, Washington state and Oregon state. SMU is ok and let’s grab WVU.

That Cal QB wasn't Steve Bartkowski, was it?

SMU has money, Washington State doesn't. Not sure about the Beavers. I'd be happy to take them all and make them a pod if ESPN will get onboard.

SMU brings the Dallas / Fort Worth TV market and is willing to forego revenue sharing for years. That is hard to ignore. I wholeheartedly agree with the earlier comment about snatching WVU.
