Favorite Tech/Clemson game?

I think that was 2004. Had Hollings tearing it up but Pat Nix insisted on throwing bombs into a monsoon.

I was there, it was a heartbreaker. The early 'rain' was truly torrential. I bought a program. It was literally just a melded together pile of mush after that storm. I wouldn't have been wetter if I was swimming underwater.

The 2007 Clemson game is so underrated. We held Davis to 12 carries 60 yards and get this... We help Spiller to 9 carries 2 yards.... That is crazy!!! They only had 71 positive rush yards. 32 carries for 34 yards overall. Our offense was god awful that day (Bennett 7/15) but Choice ran for 145.

The Kerry Watkins game in 2000 was also the Sad Pumpkins game, which IMHO wins the thread.

2000 is the answer. 2004 is a poor man's version of the 2000 game.

1997 still near the top for me though. First home game of my freshman year, Jackets win on a late field goal, big party that night.

Wild night at the beta house for sure chilidog:biggthumpup:

2011 was great because they were top 10 but we controlled the whole game. No close game stress. Just some ACC ref offsides-non-call stress

2004 was a miracle though, probably the best. I watched 2000 and 2004 but I can't even remember 2000.

2009 ACC CG was by far my favorite.
Attended in 2005, 2007, 2009 both games, 2010, 2011, and 2012.

2000 and it had more to do with the fact that they were undefeated. 2004 is a very close second. Had to leave the 2004 game early, before halftime even (dad got sick) Had to listen to Wes's call on the radio. 2003 vandy "ball is loose" game and that 2004 clemson game are the only games the past 25 years I can remember not either seeing live or on tv. It was probably better hearing that 04 game and watching the taped version when we got home in retrospect. Wes was so awesome you could see it in your mind anyway. My favorite call by him ever.

There were a lot of great Tech wins that top my list. But one I'll never forget was a Clemson victory in the 70's. Clemson came to Atlanta every year and almost never won. That year, they beat us.

After the game, five Clemson players tried to carry their Coach, Frank "The Barron of Barlow Bend" Howard, off the field. As they approached midfield for the coaches' handshake, they lost their grip and dropped him.

We had beaten them so often, I was actually sort of happy for them that they won and sorry they dropped Coach Howard, who I liked very much.

I also admire Clemson fans from those days. No matter what their record was, they would always bring a great crowd to Atlanta for the game.

My aunt and uncle were Clemson fans, and my aunt said the husbands would go to the game, while their wives did their Christmas shopping in Atlanta.

This quote's for you.

From Clemp Rivals board:
"Don't forget that this piece of crap offense is also extremely dangerous to the defense. No, not from a "they are going to score on us" perspective but from a EVERY FRIGGIN PLAY IS PEOPLE DIVING AT KNEES perspective. How many öööö knee injuries and careers does Johnson have to end? Every time we play those pieces of shlt I spend the entire game worried that one of our best D players is going to be lost for the season because of one of 1000 "cut blocks" which is just a fancy word for trying to take out someone's knee!"
---all other posters fully agreed with this bumpkin douche.

If you don't hate Clempson, you need to get your mind rite or GTFO.

Gamewise; my favorite was the 04 game.

However the 2009 ACC CG is first. Was deployed; didn't get to watch any of the games that year. Then along comes the CG and one of the higher ups in the unit got the dining hall to stay open through the night and play it with food. So, after a long day I caught a few winks and then went to the hall poured some coffee and watched the game! The higher up brought a few cohorts and had them all dress in orange. Wore my GT shirt, brought my GT flag from the room, and had an amazing time watching that game.

1989 in Death Valley. After that game I knew we had something special coming..
