on the other hand, we had two stops on 4th down, a strip on the goal line, and an interception to open the second half that were followed up with nothing from the offense.
Same cuss words come out my mouth watching his defense like it's the year 2000. Nothing has changed. If we fire Roof say goodbye to the Swilling boys and a good number of our recruits this class. In other words you cant fire him. Because we bitch about talent but we cant fire the guy who has talent attached to him.
Tech pass defense is ranked 118th in the nation. That is the problem. That is why Tech can't get off the field on 3rd down.
I watched the Miami game. When they ran the ball, Tech could stop them. When Miami passed the ball, they would walk down the field and score easily. When the score was 28-7 after the two fumbles by JT5, Miami started running the ball. Tech caught up, and made the score 28-21. Miami started passing again. They walked down the field and scored easily to make it 35-21.
Tech has no pass rush. The QB has all day to throw the ball. The Tech secondary is too small and too slow. They play off the receiver and leave too much cushion, to compensate.
The Swilling boys are coming to Tech, with or without RoofIf we fire Roof say goodbye to the Swilling boys and a good number of our recruits this class. In other words you cant fire him. Because we bitch about talent but we cant fire the guy who has talent attached to him.
Duke had 600 yards of offense against us today and some y'all still got Ted Roof's nuts in your mouth. It's unbelievable.

The lack of depth at the linebacker position got exposed yesterday, in my opinion. PJ's activity and athleticism were notably absent. I think the defensive line recruiting has come along well in the past couple of seasons, although a premiere pass rusher is still the needle in the haystack that has yet to be found. I like the athleticism of the DB's too, although they need to take the next step as they develop and learn to trust their abilities. They were in decent position on deep balls all game long yesterday and on pretty much every single one whoever was in coverage didn't get their heads around to locate the ball. Linebacker is a bit of a tire fire at the moment, though, and other than the continuing development of Mitchell and BJ Swilling coming in next season, I don't see a ton of signs for optimism at the position yet. Maybe Alexander and/or Curry could always make a big step up, I suppose. I think they've got the athleticism to.
The defense does deserve credit for getting the one stop they needed at the end of the game. And, I think the crowd also ratcheted it up a little at winning time and probably deserves a little credit for that second down false start on Duke on their last drive, too. So, everyone who was at the game getting loud deserves a pat on the back, as well.
Dude. We pay roof 750k a year. If you go look at all the assistant coaches in all ncaa football he is top 25 in pay. And top 15 for all DC.
Please. Fire his ass and get someone good. There are only a few dc that make more than a million. Plenty other good ones in roofs pay range and lower

So Ted's pay (even at 750K) is about average and his points per game is a little below average. For those wondering, Charles Kelly has a new contract worth ~$850K a year.
Did you happen to read my previous two summaries of our lack of depth on Defense? Well assuming you did, which is a big assumption for you since you don't know öööö about football, you would realize that we are missing our best player on defense. You know, PJ Davis? Member him?
We aren't going to stop anyone with the players we have at our disposal. Best we can hope for is to slow them down. This has nothing to do with Roof. As I have said before, give him the next 2 years to improve using the players he has been and continues to recruit. Our recruiting has significantly improved since he got here. But you aren't going to stop people playing 18 and 19 year olds on defense. Just isn't going to happen.
Clemson and FSU both scored over 30 points yesterday. Teams score points. That's what they want to do. Grow up and stop crying like the momma's boy that you are.
