Dr. Cabrera,
I don't know your stance on athletics. I myself am very much appreciative that Georgia Tech is a top university worldwide in academics and that not only did I receive an outstanding graduate education as a result, but that my degree increases in stature every year as well.
That said, athletics are the biggest public relations activity Georgia Tech has. Love them or hate them, that's what most people see when it comes to the institute. And thanks to Todd Stansbury, most people are seeing an embarrassment.
The staff of Clemson, a literal cornfield school in the middle of nowhere, was on national TV tonight laughing at us. No name announcers for ESPN were on TV tonight laughing at us. And this isn't the first time - under Todd Stansbury, it's an ongoing trend.
I implore you to put the public reputation of this institute in the standing it deserves and remove our athletic director. I recognize academics come first, but you're the president of the Georgia Institute of Technology, not just the Georgia Tech engineering campus.
Please take action to restore the reputation of over a century of athletic excellence that so well mirrored our academic prowess.
