OK everyone...fasten your seat belts...:10:
from "very" reliable source (at the top)...the approval has been made for white uniform jerseys AND navy uniform jerseys....it is a signed deal! And expect a throw back this year as well AND NO GOLD jerseys as in the last few years. Heard this directly today!
Paul Johnson also favors this...new coach, new direction, new offense and new jerseys.
 
i will never figure this whole 'navy' thing out. Why can't we use gold/yellow and black like most of the yellow jackets I ever see.
 
From the discussion, Russell Athletics couldn't get the "correct" gold jersey color...hence no gold. I didn't want to get into any major discussion with the "source", but trust me on this everyone.:drink1:

In a way that's true, but when you think about it, everyone will always know gold as our main color, even if we don't wear it, and if we start wearing navy at home, then that will account for all of what our fans wear to the game(navy or gold). Kind of like Florida with orange and blue or Duke with Blue and White...except not quite as famous.

My girlfriend works for Russell Corp (got a ton of free Tech samples) and said that is total BS, Russell could not get the correct gold color. They can die a jersey and get any color they want. She said there is some color wheel the industry goes off of and there are thousands of color schemes. Its more likely we wanted navy blue jersey's (which I love) instead of gold.

matching colors is what is hard. the helmet is not a cloth material, but the jersey is. it is difficult to get the same shade of gold under all light conditions for both materials at the same time. Russell seems to be extremely bad about it, in part since they dont have as many fabric options as some of the other manufacturers making jerseys. this means that the gold jerseys from Russell looked not so good. i am glad your girlfriend is defending her company, but she is wrong or they would have fixed it years ago
 
cool. wonder if we'll wear white pants with blue or the gold pants with blue. blue on gold would look very Navyish

By this, I take it to mean that we will see the OLD GOLD Throwbacks from 2006 (vs. UVa.) with White Helmets/ White Pants. Correct? If so:biggthumpup::biggthumpup:, I would vote to see the throwbacks for 1/4 of our total schedule i.e. 1/2 of our home games.
 
This may be a little off topic, but I really wish Tech would get away from wearing russel in general. I know that Auburn used to wear it and they have recently switched to Under Armour. Does anybody know if and when we could make a change?

I was sitting here wondering the same thing. When does our deal with them end? Our football and basketball jerseys look like crap IMHO. I would like to see Under Armour or Nike make our jerseys:biggthumpup:
 
I do prefer the navy over the gold...

but I'd just as soon go back to the white shirt /gold pants both at home and on the road.
 
I will support this decision if and only if the throwbacks back from the UVA game are worn AND made available for my purchase.

Also, I would like to say no to Nike doing our uniforms. All their college stuff looks horrid.
 
Since it is so hard to match gold helmets to wear uniforms...

DON'T WEAR GOLD HELMETS!

White hats always have and always will look awesome.

Texas, Penn State, UT all look fantastic wearing white helmets. We should start doing it too.
 
If this turns out to be true I say thank the lord.

The navy jersey are bad ass.....and most everyone I know feels the same.
