Football '08 Jerseys

Tech needs some team spirit. How in the world can we have fan spirit unless we have our team colors on display in the stadium and on the field. If they want Navy at Tech, I am not buying.

No to Navy.

Yes to Old Gold and White!

D-Rad is an idiot if he does something like this.

I have mentioned no names and will not, but DRAD is NOT an idiot by any means. So please don't go there with that.
And as for someone's girlfriend working at Russell, she would never be in that loop and if she was and let the word out, she might be looking for another job. I heard all this from the top ... keep it at that please. And as so many others here have said, don't shoot the messenger.

Wow! Get your thumb out of your mouth and quit pouting in the corner of the room. Until you wear a uniform on the field I dont really think you have a big say so in what color they go with. That is their decision, if you choose not to show team spirit and wear your white shirt while the rest of the stadium is wearing navy then so be it.

As for all the people bashing Nike, you kinda remind me of my grandpa that still wears what he wore 30 years ago. You have no idea what a pull Nike has in some kids eyes. I personally like Russell, but Nike is like driving a Mercedes while Russell is like driving a Honda Civic. It looks good and its constant, but it isnt the wow of a Mercedes.

You fall very close to the "dumbass post of the day"

Especially about Drad.

I don't flippin' care what color we wear as long as we win. If I did care I would be raising cain about the 85' outfit's we wore. "Bring back the Black Watch"

I'm in total agreement here. I honestly can't believe how many threads have been started regarding friggin uniform colors! BFD. Win some games - wear tutus for all I care.

i like..

HOME- acc championship look.(blue jerseys)
AWAY-White jerseys, gold pants, white cleats.
HOME (1 time per year)- throw backs

this should be our lineup.

I love the navy! I could not stand that funky looking gold we have been wearing. Like the white also.

My 2 cents.

The absolute most important thing is that the players and the recruits love the uniforms.

Having said that, I hope our players don't think Oregon looks good.

#2. A football team is heavily associated with the logo and the helmet. You have to pick one and wear it 90% of the time year after year. Radical changes have to be rare. Monkeying with stripes or the face mask or the size of the logo is no biggie. Going white is huge.

#3. Our helmet is one of the best in football. We have a great logo. The old white helmets look old to me. As do Penn State's, UTs, Nebraska, Texas, and other white helmet teams. Of course if you win nobody minds. And if the players want white helmets I'm the new #1 fan.

#4. I assume we choose dark navy because it looks better than Black on TV and such. No problem with me with any color. Including Mustard, medium Blue, pale yellow, white, off white, gold, black, navy, etc.

#5. I recognize that orange and red stand out in a crowd. Yellow this conservative guy is willing to wear does not. I have noticed that most stadiums have their ushers wear some kind of neon yellow that astronauts could probably see. This yellow makes red look as bright as battleship grey. The Georgie ushers wear it. I doubt that it would fly, but the Swarm could try a BRIGHT yellow T shirt one year. It would be as close as cheddar.

#6. Tech Alumni are generally very successful and very self confident. Also INDEPENDENT. One might wonder what Georgie fans would be like without a successful athletic program. They seem to hang a lot of self worth on it. Huge stickers on the cars. They wouldn't dream of attending a game in colors other than red and black. Is it possible for us in large numbers to actually wear the same color? We are not lemmings. They tell Georgie or Hokey fans to wear one color they all do. Try that at GT and you get a lot of people who say "I'll wear what I want". I do wear yellow, but if we go with blue jerseys do we wear blue? The dream a few people have of a gold stadium will be dead for sure.

If Georgie switched from red to green, do any of you doubt that the stadium would be mostly green on gameday fairly quickly? And not just any old green, official Georgie logo merchandise green.

Dane is correct. If we stay with a Gold top, we need a White hat.

I would prefer Gold/White/Gold over Gold/Blue/White.

If we go to Blue tops, I think Gold #s would look good.

I hope we change the stripes on the pants to the way the throwbacks had them.

I hope we don't have any freak fonts like O'L had.

And DRad, I don't think, will be the final judge. I believe he will leave it up to the coaches and team. If he gets involved it will be because someone is trying to do something to unorthodox.

Haven't noticed in this thread and if I missed it I apologize, but there was a link back in the days after PJ was announced as our new coach about teams that wear gold jerseys and PJ thinking they looked like a bunch of crayons. Some Navy posters were predicting he would change from those jerseys if he had anything to do with it.

We all have personal favorites, but there is also something in the idea of starting over with a new look to go along with a new outlook on the program.

Need to keep the crayon look in the arsenal for when it is 100 degrees on gameday. We get to choose White on the road by rule I believe so that is no problem and we can choose time (think 7:00 start) at home for chump games, but for TV games at home early season mid-day, the gold is ideal.

Perhaps the only key point brought up but not being harped on is which hides the ball best.

Does anybody know if and when we could make a change?
The current contract with Russell that paid/pays $3,650,000 over 5 years ends 6/30/08. We have been negotiating with them on a new contract for a while. The official announcement will be taking place shortly. We will not be making a change now or any time soon.

It still seems to me that YELLOW Jackets should wear YELLOW. But that's just me.

I absolutely hate Tech wearing blue jerseys. I know '90 was awesome. But during pregame in Orlando my comments were - "Why would Nebraska leave the red pants at home?" and "we still look awful in those blue jerseys."

I fear we are going to try to look like Navy, just like O'Leary has UCF looking like the Jackets.

That's exactly what's happening as I feared it would.

I (apparently in the minority) love our gold jerseys. The blue ones are ok for a special occasion (like the ACCCG).

Our basketball team wears gold. Does this mean they have to change now, too?

Our colors are gold and white with navy as a tertiary color for trim and stuff. It's cool as an alternate uniform like ugag's black ones.

Oh, well. As long as we win, right?

I know that navy is not one of our primary colors, but the point that needs to be brought up is that Navy blue jerseys look so much more intimidating. On some occasions, the gold jerseys look great, (especially at night games) but on other occasions we just look like a bunch of pussies wearing that hue of gold. Just a thought.

I have grown to love the gold jerseys as I have actually wearing yellow. But I recall not wearing ANY yellow when I was younger.

I believe that dark blue will be more popular with the players and recruits. I believe that the Blue will be more popular for jersey and clothing sales as well.

What color did we wear in 1990 basketball? I recall seeing LOTS of kids wearing GT logo stuff in ATL back then.

I would hate to see us wear no gold.
