Football Scoop Nuclear Winter

What is this about? I don't follow the joke.
Miami: Michael Irvin finally arrives -- it was a long dinner, plenty of appetizers -- with his guest. "Before you say anything," the Pro Football Hall of Famer bellows, "at least hear the man out." Through the doorway walks Deion Sanders.

My post is conjecture? Yet your response is not?

News flash: everyone is posting opinions here. Nobody has proof.

Ok.... What did I assert as fact that should be corrected to be pure conejcture? I've forwarded several opinions and tried to support them with data where I have time to. I'd be happy to correct or support something I've posted if you'd like.

So I’m presenting my opinion as fact, but you’re not doing that?

dood, I’m presenting my opinion as opinion, just like you are.

No. I’ll not be coming down your rabbit hole today.

That's fine. You don't have to support your opinions. You also don't have to act butthurt and pretend it's a rabbit hole to actually support your conjecture.

You’re right. I do t have to support them to someone who has proven he won’t listen.

Constantly repeating this doesn't make it true. The issue is that we expected this see a level of progress that is failing to manifest. If we're all in alignment that one or more coordinators needs to be fired because the product on the field sucks, any coach worth their salt is going to understand why we would also hold their boss responsible.

I think we're all in agreement that Collins will get an extra year by getting a new coordinator, but massive changes are needed. If that coordinator doesn't pan out quickly, Collins will get the boot soon too.
You’re approaching CarsonNewman level stupidity. We are not in agreement. Collins will get at least 2 more years. I’m sure you’ll be here to bitch and moan in every thread though. Do you even pull for GT football? I’m not so sure.

So what? Winning 6 games a year at VPI probably translates to winning 4 a year at GT. Ya'll really wanna fantasize about hiring failed coaches, though, be my guest.
"Winning 6 games a year at VPI probably translates to winning 4 a year at GT. "

Defend that statement. TIA!

My point was that we have a collection of douchebags like JJacket here defending CGC's performance, but somehow Fuente is worse???

And BTW, this year is still in progress, but before this year he averaged winning 7.5 games a year. Not 6. If CGC was averaging winning 7.5 games a year - or even 6 - a lot of threads we see on this forum would not exist. Oh, and in case you were an IM major . . . even 4 > 3.

It seems that you believe we're stuck with our current problems for the next 2 years. I'll direct you to your own advice for our predicament:

Provide solutions or STFU

Unless you're happy with 3 wins per year. Should I infer that your idea of "pulling for GT" is being happy with 3 wins per year?

A 7 year deal means that the results start to count against him this year. I know ya'll don't want to believe the monumental transition talk. I didn't want to, either, but the rest of the football world did. He might get 2 more years, but I think next year determine whether he reaches the end of his contract.

And all this talk about how literally anyone would be better than Collins is dumb. He has done one thing well so far, recruiting. Some of these names being thrown around haven't even done that. So, yes, it could be worse. We could be winning 3 games a year with 50th ranked recruiting classes.

This has been repeated ad nauseam, but the point keeps being brought up so here we go:

I think most of us expected the transition to be rough the first 2 years but see strong improvement by year 3. We've regressed on defense with a def minded hc. We've regressed in the secondary with a HC "known" for developing safeties. Our OL is a massive liability, and while we already knew it needed rebuilding, it is worse than many years under coach belly flop. Our biggest strength is still the backfield, but that was always a strength.

We're sitting at 3 wins, looking like the 3rd year in a row at such a low mark and many thinking we may not go bowling next year. That's nearly an entire class of gt players/students who never go to a bowl. If the outlook is that bad based on what we've seen so far, how is that within the acceptable parameters of the "biggest rebuild"?

I think we need to find the poll from some years back on how long each poster thought the rebuild would take. I think we landed around 3-4 years. I don't think Geoff gets it done by then.

Georgia Tech: Coaching moves are often all about timing. And this time around, former industrial engineer Tony Elliott is ready to become Georgia Tech head coach Tony Elliott.

The updated Nuclear Winter for today. Also has Jamey Chadwell headed to VT, Lane Kiffin to Florida, and Hugh Freeze back to Ole Miss

Wow. We live in different universes. AFAIAC, winning 3 games a year is winning 3 games a year. I DNGAF if he does it with a 50th ranked recuiting class or a 25th ranked recuiting class. How in the hell does that matter?

BTW, CGC's 2021 class was ranked 48th by 247Sports. CPJ's 2018 class which "left the cupboard bare" was ranked 44th. Facts.

I agree that he dug himself a hole this year. I disagree that his job is or should be in jeopardy this year. If next year is like this year, I think there will be little disagreement on his future.

However, I think the more likely scenario is we go 6-6 with some of us touting that we've turned the corner and others lamenting that we put ourselves through a painful rebuild just to get back to Gailey-ville.

It seems like you have decided what next year is going to look like and aren't really giving any credit to additional depth and having a few upperclassman Collins recruits. You're convinced that the coaching is bad enough that nothing will make a difference. It's possible, but it's also conjecture.
