Football Scoop potential candidates

The comparisons between Deion and Collins need to end. Collins was a wannabe Deion like hype man. That’s it, Collins wanted to be what Deion is naturally. Even worse, Collins happened to be the worst Xs and Os and “coaching them up” coach I have seen at the college football level. It’s actually rare to see incompetence at such an elite level. Pun intended.

Two things are currently at odds right now:

1. Cabrera wants to hire an AD first. He's also implemented an interim AD that came from outside of the athletic department, and hired an executive firm to help find our next coach and AD. That tells me he's going to do this his way, and without outside influence. He's going to get the best AD and HC for the job, not what outside influence wants.

2. There are strong rumors of donors already reaching out to candidates. Already there are several candidates being names with very specific scenarios already mapped out.

From the outside looking in, I don't think any candidate we've named is really viable until an AD is hired. From the tea leaves Cabrera has put out there, he's going to hire the AD and empower that person to hire our next coach. Speculation is fun, but I think until we get an AD in place, any coaching candidate attached to GT is pure speculation...or wishful thinking.

It's also fair to say his recruiting edge could go orbital in the ATL.

Balanced against the Hill of course, but I digress.

Right, but how much recruiting bump do we expect? Will it be enough to offset things if Deion (or his supporting cast) isn't great at coaching up? Are we expecting to out-recruit uga or clemson? They both have solid coaching staffs, so will we be able to coach up enough to beat them?

Then it becomes a matter of asking why we can't have both - Dan Mullen. He's developed several all-star QBs, ran Meyers offense for years (BG -> UF), and could land top 25 recruiting classes even at MSU. He also runs an offense different enough that I think we can win when scheming against clemsons and uga in their up years.

I didn’t read what you said but let me tell you why we need to hire Jamey Chadwell.

We know the boosters will most likely end up picking the coach. What we really need at AD is someone that has a strong business background that can fix the finances and perhaps navigate the conference expansion that seems inevitable at this point
