For the Few Johnson Critcs....

I wonder how they accounted for the DE? Were they dropping with the pitch man (was there a pitch man) or were they getting blocked by the tackles? Its still a good adjustment by CPJ. Definitely won the game.

The Clemson DEs were taking themselves out of the play by getting upfield to cutoff Nesbitt on the 3-O. In other words, they were defending the triple option while we were running the mid-line option.:laugher:

I can safely say I have never seen someone get outcoached as bad as Dabo in the first quarter Thursday. Out of all of the coaches on the sideline and 10 guys upstairs, not one person sees Thomas and tells anyone to call a timeout? And everyone in the stadium knew it was a pooch kick out of their field goal formation. Just punt from the regular formation and it is probably not 6 (regardless of Dabo saying he told the guy to kick it out of bounds).

Bobby Dodd quote from that article regarding Tennessee's coach b*tching about a play he ran:

He should spend more time coaching pass defense instead of criticizing Georgia Tech and he would have a better football record

McDonald has been a head coach in the SEC for only 4 games and already he is telling us how to run the league

That option guru over at Navy has a tutorial on this topic:

I love this guy's blog. It and smart football have educated me enough to recognize what Paul Johnson is doing. Sometimes. A little.

I think I saw us run the mid-line a few times earlier in the game, and Josh was giving the ball to the dive man, rather then keep. I think it worked earlier in the game in the first quarter, but then it started going nowhere. I can't make the read, so I don't know if Josh was making the wrong read earlier, but I can imagine that Johnson saw what Clemson was doing, wanted to exploit the middle of the field with the mid-line, but wasn't having success with Josh's reads. As soon as Josh kept the ball some, we got some much needed yards.

Honestly I'd take any bag collection of skill players to run Johnson's offense but take his OL choices (well maybe the QB). An O line that can't get it done, particularly in a run offense, isn't good news.

Question to someone who watched the game on video (TV/ESPN360): If the defensive ends were moving to guard against the pitch, what were our 5 offensive linemen doing with 2 tackles and maybe also the other defensive end. Were they sending linebackers at us?

I laugh every time someone says this.

GT had a roster of good players for this system already. Naturally, the OL was lacking, I'll give you that.

Why is that funny? Who are you referring to besides the RB's. Nesbitt? I hope not. Yes, he's good in the system. BUT, its also very foreign. This kid was a drop back Pro Style QB in HS who was very mobile, but he was a throw 1st QB no question.

To his credit he's done incredibly well to perform at the level he's at

i don't understand how anyone can be a critic of him after what he's done for 15 games.

He's won 11 of 15 without his actual players that he caters to in recruiting.

He's a helluva coach, motivator, and mind in the game of football in general.

Not to mention a F'n Winner....which is something that we haven't had in a long time.

he's not happy just competing and going to a bowl....he sees the bigger picture and guides the young men to that common goal
+1
Something has to be said that beating Clemons ain't that bad. Shiit people, we have a winner as a coach.

Nesbitt threw like 5 passes in 2007.

Nesbitt is almost exactly the size/build I would want in an option QB.

I think part of the reason CPJ chose us was the roster. I think he knew he could be successful right away.

That's because Gailey was an idiot. But not having an OL that fits the system is a huge issue. The guys have worked hard but we still have some issues with quickness and getting low.

Dude I'm not arguing that.

I'm saying that he's basically learning the position as he goes.

I don't care how many passes he's thrown in College. He was recruited to be a ProStyle QB.

Just because he's the right size/build doesn't necessarily mean that's he's automatically the guy.

Luckily, he's got the "upstairs" to figure out this style of QBing.

My point is that if we were running a Gailey type offense (drop back passing), he'd be just as good.

I'm not sure where you're going with all this????

i laugh more and more often when you post
not with you, but at you

because you dont know crap yet you talk a bunch

a hint for you: better to be thought an idiot, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Are you saying that GT didn't have good sized WRs that can block and a good set of RBs?

Or are you just looking for an opportunity to drop an insult?

You agree with me that Nesbitt is almost exactly what PJ would want physically.

What are you disputing? Are you implying that I think PJ had an option trained QB ready when he got here?

No he's saying you don't have the foggiest clue about what you're talking about...atleast that's what it appears to me.

Dear Lord, you just said we should be a great option team because Nesbitt is the perfect size/build for an option QB

Christ, Eric Crouch was the perfect size/build to audition for an Oompa Loompa in a Wonka Remake but no one threw him white overalls

This quote sure seems that you think that:

What the heck happened to you? Did Kyle hack your account or something? You were normal until the season started, now you're off the deep end.

Are you in France?
