Freddie: We're confused

And we couldn't adjust. The center is supposed to do that and he had no clue. We're screwed and we don't learn.

Couldn't...wouldn't.

The offense has been completely deciphered. Continuing to call the exact same plays that are being stuffed is insanity.

Though given our OL, I don't think it really matters. But a quick slant now & then would be nice to see and might stop teams from putting 15 guys in the box.

It's not going to happen though.

Yes, a quick slant into 11 defenders is a great idea! Let's throw into an area with numerous bodies and see what happens. 2 yard gain? Pick 6? The possibilities are endless!

It's easy to decipher an offense that isn't working in the first place. We are very limited in what we can do due to our limited personnel(injuries, freshmen). The coaches are trying to figure out ways around it. Credit them for trying to get Marshall in there as a threat at B-back. With no B-back dive, or perimeter run game, how the hell are we going to have any sort of offense?

Ralph Fridgen would have had an answer for Clemson. CPJ needs to stop being so öööö hard headed.

Not sure why all the "Pj is too stubborn to change" talk is going on. He's shown numerous times over the years that he will adjust as necessary. I think the armchair QBs in here are underestimating the amount of time it takes to actually install new adjustments into the offense. You don't practice all spring one way and then in Week 3 of the season decide to so something else.

I'm thinking there's more than simply line shifting that ND figured out. VPI hinted at tells before (more than Kam) and they've been our toughest game usually. VPI would have incentive to keep it to themselves more or less. ND would not.

People are just venting. We know nothing much is gonna change before the end of the season. At this point I think CPJ's running some of the same plays over and over again so that they get more experience and learn to do it right.

I think the worst thing I've ever seen on CPJ's face is when he was no longer getting mad about the plays blowing up for a loss last Saturday. When you see defeat on your coach's face you know you're done.

Really? We have made adjustments?

Yep, that's it. After all these years, somebody FINALLY figured out exactly how to defend this offense and stop it. Crazy how that happened right when we got big heads from a great 2014 season (see also: Kansas 2010), lost all our skill players to graduation, lost most of their replacements to injury, and had to start playing inexperienced walk-ons. It can't possibly matter than two of our losses were to top 10 teams on the road! Now we'll never be good again! The sky is falling! :turbonoes:

Now, obviously since everybody now knows how to stop our offense, the solution is to scrap it all mid-season and start running a different offense.

Holy carp, I knew it would be bad on the forums this year when we lost a few games (inevitable given the schedule and the roster attrition, even before the injuries started piling up), but this level of retartedness has still been a surprise.

We're pretty bad this year, for the first time since the mid-90s. It sucks. Even so, we'll be OK eventually. Probably not this year, but eventually.

Of course we have made adjustments. The no huddle, moving guys around on the line, burning redshirts, odd formations, the unsuccessful installation of the midline for the Clemson game, more passing. It just hasn't worked. I suspect we will see the inside veer this game so that our Abacks don't have to block in space but instead just have to hit whoever is standing in the hole.

Here's our song for the 2015 season.

I nominate this for the Ramblin' Wreck 2015 Official Gif:

Really? We have made adjustments?

You kidding me?

Running no huddle tempo and signaling plays in from the sideline is one of the biggest adjustments we've seen in the system the entire time he's been here, outside of the occasional shotgun-diamond Vad stuff that didn't really work.

What retard is claiming that the sky is falling? :rotfl: It's college football - I am disappointed in the season but it has not impacted my life a bit. Especially since I've been picking us to not cover the spread for the past month!

And this is hardly the first time our offense has been stuffed. Outside of last year's Orange Bowl and mutt victory, it's usually had little success against good P5 teams and annually gets smacked around by Bud Foster and VT. Ole Piss in the Music City Bowl, Utah, Air Force, mutts, etc, etc etc. And now, add lowly Puke to the list. But hey, Duke doesn't have our recruiting restrictions, right?

It's interesting that...prior to last year's aberration, we were on a 1-15 streak against the "good" teams on our schedule (Clemson, miami, mutts, vt). This year is simply a regression to the mean. 2014 is a distant memory.

Outside of any success which I'm choosing to ignore, the offense has been dominated.

Do you hear yourself?

I mean - no öööö. The really good teams on our schedule year-to-year have better defenses than the crappy teams on our schedule thus the offense won't always be putting up the PlayStation numbers like it does against everyone else.

So if the defensive shifts prior to the snap are what is wrecking us, how did Navy handle the ND defense? Navy knew what was coming from our game film, so did they get beat scheme wise, or just physically dominated in the second half? I honestly don't know because I didn't see the game; but if they were just as confused as our team that wouldn't bode well for this offense. If Navy was just physically beat, then there is hope.
