FSU Loss may be B1G-10’s Gain

5th down win (or they would have had a loss) and phantom clip called to keep them from losing their bowl game.
We were unbeaten and destroyed Nebraska without a doubt in our bowl. It wasn't even close... they just wanted to sell papers

Same here. They earned that spot based on performance. No way that Bama or UGA gets snubbed due to an injury. In fact, Bama still made the playoffs after losing Tua in the 2019 season. They ended up getting boat raced by Clemson.

You guys must not be familiar with the criteria for selection. Its forward looking, not backward looking. Earning the spot means nothing if you are not expected to be able to maintain it. Putting in a team destined to get crushed is bad biz for the NCAA and CFB

There was no evidence from the season to suggest that Alabama was better than FSU with their backup QB.
 
All I can say is you guys can have all the fun you want at FSU’s expense. But, the bottom line and money fact is that the undefeated, top 4 all season, ACC champion was left out. So don’t be whining when a 10-2 GT gets left out of the 12 team playoff. But something tells me many of you will be screaming and acting every bit, or worse, as you claim FSU fans have acted.

An ACC team will get hosed this year make no mistake on that. It’s just a matter of who. And that fanbase will cry a river like every fanbase does.

So what, it's just plain fun to make fun of FSU. Sure they got hosed, the system is corrupt etc... Nothing is going to change that, might as well have some fun at someone else's expense. When it's time for tears I'm sure we will pony up, but again, who cares, until then that is no reason to not enjoy some schadenfreude.

The reason the Nulls got left out had NOTHING TO DO with affiliation with the ACC. Shockingly, its because their star QB was injured with two contest to play as evidence supporting the level of effect that loss had on the quality of the team. No question, after ACCCG, the Nulls were not one of the top 4 teams in the country IMHO. I know it's cute and PC to say all players are equally important to a teams success. But it's just not reality, especially when it comes to QB. Do you really think the Huskies would have been in it without Penix?

The ACC will get what it deserves come selection time. If we take care of business interconference, we'll get at least two in. If we don't, we won't.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking the playoffs were the 4 best teams. uga was better than either Texas or Washington.

And it certainly isn’t about ‘earned’. FSU proved that.

It’s money and politics. NCSt ööööed FSU and the acc is reaping the rewards.

i dont disagree, but my rub was if this is the case, fsu should have dropped in rankings as soon as travis went down. but instead they stayed at top until selection time. that was the dirty part imo

What if they had gotten in, and then he got hurt in practice. Do you replace them? I get that they were a lesser team without Travis, but as undefeated ACC champ they earned the spot.

5 conference champions for 4 slots. Someone had to be excluded.

FSU had 1 less loss than Bama or Texas, but both of those schools have significantly higher strength of schedules. FSU has a win over LSU OOC, but their ACC conference competition is what pushed their SoS so low (FSU had the #55 SoS while Bama was #8 and Texas was #7).

You can’t separate the simple fact that the ACC undefeated champ got left out. It could have been Clemson, GT, Duke, or any team because we are perceived as a weak conference and our front office does not push back. FSU is clearly the most decorated ACC team with Natties, Heismans, huge fanbase, etc and they got left out. Just imagine what they will do to a 10-2 VT, NC State, or GT. The injury was just a great excuse for them to use. They would have been left out even if Travis were healthy because no one cares about the ACC at all. How many times does this conference have to be hosed until some of you wake up and see it. It’s been happening in bowl selections, March Madness selections, and the CWS for years and no one pays any attention until it happens to your team.
