FSU Loss may be B1G-10’s Gain

You can’t separate the simple fact that the ACC undefeated champ got left out. It could have been Clemson, GT, Duke, or any team because we are perceived as a weak conference and our front office does not push back. FSU is clearly the most decorated ACC team with Natties, Heismans, huge fanbase, etc and they got left out. Just imagine what they will do to a 10-2 VT, NC State, or GT. The injury was just a great excuse for them to use. They would have been left out even if Travis were healthy because no one cares about the ACC at all. How many times does this conference have to be hosed until some of you wake up and see it. It’s been happening in bowl selections, March Madness selections, and the CWS for years and no one pays any attention until it happens to your team.
meh.. undefeated auburn got left out awhile ago and they didnt try suing the conference

they kept their öööö together and won a natty a few years later

we wouldnt get left out anytime soon since our SoS is through the roof for while... what really screwed FSU is Florida sucking so bad

What if they had gotten in, and then he got hurt in practice. Do you replace them? I get that they were a lesser team without Travis, but as undefeated ACC champ they earned the spot.
Of course not, but that's a non sequitur hypothetical IMHO. Undefeated ACC Champ is a valid argument for sure. Unfortunately for them, they lost their guy with two games to go, so the beauty contest before selection continued. I wish they would have smoked the Gators and Louvill, but they didn't. I would have been more than fine if they DID get in. I wanted them in, I wanted the $$ for the conference. I just think the hand wringing over how it played out was a little over the top. I also think there would have been much less clutching of pearls if the replacement had been someone other than Alabama or an SEC team.

I feel ya. My assertion their snub had nothing to do with ACC affiliation was probably a tad overstated....a little. If we beat uGa, Clemson beats uSC, and louvill beats KY, then there probably would have been more momentum to select the nulls regardless of their misfortune. But we didn't.

ACC needs to STFU, stop crying and whining PUBLICLY about the contract we all willingly signed, and start winning bigly and consistently interconference.

The reason the Nulls got left out had NOTHING TO DO with affiliation with the ACC. Shockingly, its because their star QB was injured with two contest to play as evidence supporting the level of effect that loss had on the quality of the team. No question, after ACCCG, the Nulls were not one of the top 4 teams in the country IMHO. I know it's cute and PC to say all players are equally important to a teams success. But it's just not reality, especially when it comes to QB. Do you really think the Huskies would have been in it without Penix?

The ACC will get what it deserves come selection time. If we take care of business interconference, we'll get at least two in. If we don't, we won't.

Why didn’t Bama get left out when Tua got hurt? Clemson crushed them.

Wasn’t Auburn on probation then?

They got left out…FOR ANOTHER UNDEFEATED TEAM and FSU demolished LSU one of the best SEC teams last year.

Yeah, nothing like what happened to the undefeated ACC Champ has EVER happened before. And the reason is obvious to everyone - weak conference leadership. The path of least resistance is what humans always look for and that’s exactly what the committee did. And they were proven correct because the ACC still hasn’t done a darn thing about it unless you consider a tweet anything of substance. Can you imagine what the SEC’s response would have been if both Bama and UGA were left out? That’s why they weren’t.

Alabama had a loss to Texas, Texas lost to Oklahoma. I don't want to live in a world where a team is punished for having a player injured.

I was replying to a post comparing Auburn’s situation to FSU’s.

It’s not just weak leadership. It’s weak fan interest which leads to weak crowds which leads to less tv money.

Weak leadership is a huge component. NCSt allowed this to happen. The acc should have punished them. 12 consecutive games, no bye, schedule them into a hole. No favors from the refs.

Not sure how many remember what the sec was like prior to their rise. Early 90’s they were ratting each other out to the ncaa. SEC office installed a rule that teams had to bring cheating accusations to the sec office first, not to the ncaa. After that the conference as a whole began cheating at a higher level and the conference rise followed.

The ACC has to change it's reputation. It must start winning OOC games but that might not even be enough. The ACC had a winning record vs SEC last year but FSU schedule was weak even though they beat 2 SEC teams.

Saw some comments on some random Facebook post saying with FSU losing, if Clemson doesn't beat ugag, it shows how weak the ACC is. Maybe Tech is just a good team and the ACC just beats up on themselves.

When an unranked Arkansas or Kentucky beats a top 10 LSU or somebody, they go to 12 in the polls and the loser falls down to 14 and they call it a good loss cause the other team is now ranked. Then both teams end up losing 4-5 games but every team that beat them claims a top 25 win and talks about how good the SEC is.

That’s because the whole poll system is manipulated. What you described has been happening for decades. It’s obvious but no one from the weak ACC front office says a thing. For instance, if we start out 2-0 and FSU is 1-1 and are ranked ahead of us someone in the ACC needs to address this nationally. They would be supported by most fans because everyone sees it, but the BIG and SEC don’t say a word about it. But there are a lot of pent up years of frustration over this type of garbage. And if we 2-0 and lose to Cuse we’ll get busted down so far you won’t be able to find us. Yet let Ole Miss lose to a mid level team and they’ll still be top 15. It’s all a racket until they expand the playoffs into the 20’s and 30’s. Then let’s line up and play and the polls, like East German gymnasts, will be relegated to history.

And then squeaked by BC
Are you gonna hold that against Alabama for Arkansas or South Florida?

FSU led 31-10 midway through 3rd.
Alabama was 10-3 against USF until 30s left in the game.

Want to be a top conference? Win. The darlings of the ACC (Miami, UNC, etc) continue to lose OOC games where eyes are on them. Unless GT and a couple others overtake them by winning consistently, or Miami/UNC/etc get their acts together, this will be an ongoing problem. GT winning in the trenches got people’s attention. We need more of that and less complaining.

This weekend we need Clemson, Miami, and UNC wins. Then don’t wet the bed against non-P4 opponents. That is how you change perception.
